Elleigh Molinar
About Elleigh
Expert Analysis
Cedric Cobb | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
The sophomore point guard has a steadiness and calmness to her game that rubs off on her teammates. In pressure situations, that matters. She gets Perry organized, keeps them spaced correctly, and makes sure they’re getting quality shots instead of quick ones. She’s not always the loudest presence on the floor, but she’s the stabilizer. And in the Open Division, having a sophomore with that kind of poise is a luxury.

Molinar had a very good all-around performance in the game that I viewed. Her game has always been mature, but it continues to elevate as she gains more experience. She controlled the tempo in the win over Hamilton and consistently put teammates in positions to get quality looks. Elleigh is a steady floor general who understands how to win.

Molinar is the key to Perry’s success this season as the floor general sets the tempo offensively. A high IQ point guard with great vision, Molinar can also score at the mid-range and hit the floater. A surefire division 1 prospect, I expect Molinar to have a strong showing this season.

Molinar is elite and could break into the high major consideration as she already holds a lot of interests from division 1 schools. What impresses me most about her game is her ability to hold her own against top level competition. She grinds and competes at a high level. A point guard who can handle physicality, Molinar does a great job in facilitating the offense and defends at a high level. If left open, she isn’t afraid to score the rock.

One of the most exciting guards in the class, Molinar, is gearing up for a significant leap. She has always had an advanced feel, but now the game is slowing down for her at a different level. Add noticeable strength gains and a tighter handle, and you get a point guard ready to take ownership of games.

Elleigh is as crafty and clever as they come. She’s the kind of point guard who knows exactly when to pick her spots. She’s not going to force it; she’s going to wait for the defense to slip and then strike. She is just as deadly from the three-point line as she is from inside the arc.

The #1 PG in Arizona made the 1-hour flight to Utah, and she did not disappoint. Molinar was one of the finalists to make the 16U Mexican National Team, and she quickly showed why. Molinar was just heating up throughout the camp. There was a stretch where she hit three NBA range three’s in a row in 5 on 5 play. Molinar is explosive and she had some of the best wiggle in the gym. D1 Prospect and that is a no brainer decision.

Elleigh plays the game like a much older player. She is composed and reads defenses very well from her lead guard position. She also knows how to balance being a passer and being a scorer. Her shooting range extends well beyond the three-point line.

Elleigh can go on runs when she is carrying her team even though she’s just a freshman. She shoots it with range and with a lot of confidence. She is also crafty enough to get in the lane and finish over much taller players.

Molinar played well above her age and at times looked like the best player out there. She is a pure floor general and looked to put pressure on the defense constantly. She knocked down perimeter shots as well as handing out some very nice assists. Elleigh also played very good on-ball defense and made it tough for opposing ball handlers.
