On June 19-20 the annual Section-7 took place at the Arizona Athletics Ground in Mesa. It is a showcase of some of the best teams and players on the West Coast and I took in a couple games.

Here were some of the standouts I viewed

[player_tooltip player_id='663049' first='Lily' last='McCracken'] Notre Dame Prep

A scoring lead guard is a bucket. In the game I viewed she scored a whopping 35 of the teams 48 points. She averaged around 25ppg unofficially, which was one of the most from the state. She scores it with threes off the catch or pull-ups off the dribble from mid-range and plays smartly off of the pick and roll game. She puts a lot of pressure on the defense to keep her out of the paint to score or she will get fouled.

[player_tooltip player_id='755356' first='Elleigh' last='Molinar'] Perry

Molinar looked great in the game I viewed with off the catch or actually mostly off the dribble perimeter jumpers with deep triples with a girl in her face. She will also pull-up off the dribble from mid-range while still handling all the ball pressure. Her iso game is very hard to handle and usually gets the job done with her burst and skill.

[player_tooltip player_id='780442' first='Trinity' last='Jones'] Perry

An athletic power forward who is one of the better movers in space in the AIA. She covers a lot of ground and will defend post players and then switch onto guards easily. She will grab the ball off the glass and push it up the court uniquely and find a teammate in stride for the assist or go coast to coast. Her motor seems to never shut off to rebound the ball. She is also starting to face-up from the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='791132' first='Alexis' last='Fenn'] Perry

A bigger forward who can play and defend multiple positions for the Pumas. She rebounds well in her area and will score it a few ways. She likes to face-up from the perimeter and give a hard shot fake and rip thru with long strides to the basket for layups. She will also score it off of offensive rebound put backs and can take it off the glass and go coast to coast.

[player_tooltip player_id='821243' first='Kaelin' last='Holloway'] Higley

A scoring wing with a little size and a lot of skill. She can score it with threes off the catch with a high arcing shot and then crash the glass on both ends of the court. She finds ways to rebound in and out of her area and she will find teammates unselfishly. She seems to always play the right way.

[player_tooltip player_id='663051' first='Cadence' last='Murdough'] Higley

A tall post player is very fluid and runs the floor well from end to end. She will simply outrace her opponents and has good hands to catch passes to score with it in transition or in the half court. She will also control the glass and score with offensive rebound put backs, hook shots and runners. She walls up on defense and makes it hard to score on her.

[player_tooltip player_id='1878422' first='Ava' last='Haney'] Higley

A bigger wing forward is a two-way player who rebounds well and defends in space but can also score it from inside and out. She will play off of the pick and roll game and score it with layups, flash off the ball but then step out and shoot the three. She is a cerebral and skilled newcomer.

[player_tooltip player_id='663048' first='Claire' last='Greenwade'] Higley

An undersized scoring lead guard has good quickness with the ball in her hands and she can make some plays for her teammates plus score it. She sees the court well off of the pick and roll game and will thread the needle into a teammate. She will score it with jumpers from the three point line, quick drives with her speed and floaters.

[player_tooltip player_id='1258310' first='Sophie' last='Moreira'] Higley

A wing forward can score it from inside and out. She can shoot the three with a quick trigger and then work inside and score with offensive rebound put backs. She will also ball fake and dribble drive to the basket in traffic with tough layups. She is a natural rebounder in and out of her area and plays the passing lanes to collect steals. I can see her stock going up!
