She is the type that takes what a defense is giving her. She has a smooth pull up jumper as a righty and she understands the in’s and out’s of the game at a solid rate at this time. She is not someone that wants to force unneeded action in anyway. She knows that usually leads to TO’s and that’s not a good thing. That is something that coaches love about her as an overall recruit. She plays the game within herself/her own ability and that’s key to having success in this sport in the long run.

In a heavyweight matchup versus 8th-ranked Iowa City High, Emerson McCormick Emerson McCormick 5'6" | CG Linn-Mar Marion | 2027 IA rose to the occasion and carried Linn-Mar oh so close to a big overtime upset. McCormick was simply a monster on the floor and finished the game with 15 points (on 6/8 from the floor), 4 steals and 1 assist. The 5’6″ guard also tracked down a game-high 12 rebounds. McCormick usually makes her living in the midrange and averages 5.6PPG and 6.9RPG on the season. She leveled up against the Little Hawks by stepping back and hitting all three of her three point attempts and converting from the field at a high level.

McCormick played a leading role in Linn-Mar’s near upset of Top 10 City High in late January on the road. The junior ran the point and worked well off of the ball, too. She locked down multiple positions on defense and limited mistakes with a knack for coming through in the clutch. McCormick is a multi-sport athlete that succeeds with quickness and toughness. She’s a three-level scorer that really excels in the mid-range with excellent lift and a high release point on the shot. A success on the track, McCormick enjoys pushing the pace in the gym and beats much of the competition up and down the court.
