She blocked many shot attempts on drives from help and on the ball. Emily denied entry passes into the low post very well and used her long arms to deflect the passes. She gained inside position on her defender with a strong seal then finished the lob for a left-handed layup. Emily demonstrated athleticism and control by catching a pass full speed then quickly transferring to her left to score a left-handed reverse.

Wierenga was really good in the paint against Northview. She came just 2 rebounds shy of a points and rebounds double-double in the game, finishing with 14 and 8. In addition to scoring and being active on the glass, Wierenga did a nice job of protecting the rim and picked up a couple blocks.

Wierenga is a great addition to the prospect rankings. She’s being actively recruited with recent offers from the likes of Hope and Alma. Wierenga can work very well on the block with her back to the basket and is very effective finishing over her left shoulder. She can also step out and hit mid range jumpers from the free throw line and the baseline.
