If you’re looking for a leader and someone to make things happen with the ball in her hands, then Wardle would be someone to watch immediately. She’s a player who rarely makes a mistake, and if she does, she moves on quickly. She has strong vision, her decision making is fast and sharp, and from a scoring standpoint, she can create for herself at all levels just as well as she can for others.

Wardle knows what it feels like to be part of one of the best teams in the state and one of the best players leading it. With everything she brings to the floor, it’s hard to imagine this group losing many games, even with jumping up a class. Emy will be the one driving it all, and seeing her on the first team list wouldn’t surprise anyone. (3A)

Wardle can be credited towards her quick play-making abilities as the point guard for HOI’s 17U National Team (Elite 40 Division), as well as her tenacious defensive style. She is quick to pick up a ball-handling player and disrupt their dribbling. Leading her team in steals, she is able to create pressure on the opponent with minimal fouling, which is a quality that any top AAU team covets.

Before you notice the sharpened skillset, the way Emy approaches the game is why many coaches tend to reach out to ask about her. She doesn’t show much emotion all the time, but she is a player who you would rather suit up with than line against. Her IQ and understanding of how to play this game runs through her family, and there’s no drop off with her. She’s skilled, she’s focused, and she’s going to make one hell of a college player.

Wardle is one of those players who could genuinely get better at the next level due to her playmaking ability. She can score the ball from all levels, but it is her ability to break down the defense and make plays for others around her at a high level that stands out.

Wardle has been a consistent player that scouts have preached to coaches to look out for. Her skill can be used anywhere on the court, but the maturity and IQ she has at such a young age is amazing to see. With a recent offer to DePaul, it’s clear that college coaches are seeing the major impact that she can bring to a program.

Picking up a D1 offer this past weekend, Wardle has picked up where she left off when it comes to HS basketball. As I mentioned on multiple occasions, Wardle is one of those players that you appreciate even more when you get to see her in person. But even on film, you can see what she brings to the table as a standout basketball player. I don’t think these offers are going to slow down. Tremendous potential.

Coming off a game winner for a state title would change a lot of players approach to the game. Wardle’s focus is still playing high IQ ball. She knows how to get the most out of each possession, and she doesn’t dribble the air out of the ball to find the best decision. She seems to have a ton of trust in her knowledge of the game, and it shows in her skillset. Patient, decisive, and confident. Excited to see how she plays in the upcoming Windy City Windmill event.

Coming into the state finals, Wardle already had a name for herself.. but today she really put it on the map with one of the best performances this weekend. 18 points, 2 steals, and 2 assists. The highlight of the game was the finisher she delivered to leave 1.3 seconds on the clock. A top freshman in the state for sure.
