E’Niyah Holmes
About E’Niyah
Expert Analysis

Holmes has long been one of the top players in the class, but a knee injury her sophomore year has made her high school career a bit of journey. She returned last season and was productive for a Madill team that made the state tournamen. But the impact of the injury was still present. This year though, she has looked more mobile and healthier. Capable of playing bully ball around the rim as a tall, physical guard who gets on the glass and scores effectively. Has started to regain more of her explosiveness and athleticism as a dynamic driver. Holmes is set for a strong playoff push and as she continues to ascend before heading off to Lamar.

Putting Holmes on a list like this is a bit of a shortcut, as she’s already expected to be one of Oklahoma’s best overall players. But a knee injury cut short her sophomore season, making her one of the most anticipated players to watch this season (maybe starting this weekend at the Broken Arrow Super Scrimmage?)
Class 4A continues to be Oklahoma’s arguably deepest class. For Madill to punch a ticket to the last year of the Big House, then climb that mountain in March, it will take Holmes to up her game to even another level. She’ll have some talented teammates (including her younger sister, a freshman phenom) to lean on as she ramps up her level as she rehabs early in the season.
Look at her inclusion on this list as a reminder that Holmes should be returning to the court soon, and the excitement her return will bring to Oklahoma’s deep talent pool.

A high school season knee injury has temporarily stopped Holmes’ development. Once she’s recovered and back on the court, she’s a priority watch as the southern Oklahoma standout was trending toward being a national type prospect.

I went down to Madill earlier this year to see E’Niyah with my own eyes after marveling at all the things she could do on tape for way too long. Of course, when I got there, I found out that she was injured the night before and was going to be missing a significant amount of time. Still, I got to meet her and the family and can tell the college coaches I speak with that they will be getting one heck of a person to go along with all of those skills we’ve all seen on tape. As far as that side of things go, what was it that helped her jump up eleven spots this time around? A coach’s daughter, she is an intelligent player with a body made for the game at the next level. She is tall, strong, and very fast. She can shoot it and shows great footwork inside, meaning she is a true three-level scorer. It will be great to see her back on the floor soon!

Division-I schools have been tripping over each other trying to get out to Madill and watch the Wildcats practice. They have all pretty much offered E’Niyah, whose D-I offers I’ve lost count of at this point, and she’s still likely more than a year away from committing. There’s a lot to love about E’Niyah’s game. She can score from every level. She is a shot creator who makes her own space with tremendous handles and a knack for pacing. She is good at getting defenders off-balance. She is a high-IQ player who makes the smart basketball plays. Holmes absolutely fills up the stat sheet and she is going to be key in the turnaround that is definitely coming for Madill basketball.
