Holmes was unstoppable in the first half. All over the court on both ends. Had a couple impressive blocks while also scoring the rock efficiently and making it look easy against a top tier defense. With even more of the defensive focus on her in the second half, she was slowed down and only finished 12 points. But the dominating first half was an example of how she’s a future Power 4 player. And her outstanding sophomore season is any indicator she should only continue to rise.

The production highs for Holmes are amazing. She’s one of the most gifted athletes to come through Oklahoma in recent years. Which is saying something with the recent talent Oklahoma has produced. She also has the offensive skill level to match. Text book pull up jumpers, spot up triples, graceful and outstanding footwork on drives. She’s very often a problem on the court.
The Rougher has had great games this year, including standout performances against Putnam City North. But there also has been some lows, including the Mustang Holiday Classic. Where Muskogee dropped the first two games, including a loss to a small town foe. But when Holmes is on, she’s near unstoppable. And it could make for a memorable playoff run as she can produce some of the best performances of any player in Oklahoma.

Took it to one of the best defensive teams in Class 6A. Is a handful off the bounce, with tight handles and long strides to knife to the rim. Routinely made tough finishes through contact at the basket. Can step out and hit the three ball as well. Complete package as a scoring guard with a sky high ceiling. Instantly has helped turn the Lady Roughers into a State Tournament contender in 6A.

Averaged over 20 points a game for Class 4A State Tournament squad Madill. Is firmly in the conversation for top prospect in the class. Next level athlete, with a combination of explosiveness and strength. End to end speed is scary, making her a transition threat with elite finishing at the rim. Long strider who can make it look easy while she glides by the opposition. Equally impactful on defense with her long arms and athleticism causing deflections, steals and blocks. Can also be a floor spacing spot up threat, with textbook form and mechanics on her jumper. Arguably the most complete prospect in this class and is set to dominate for the Banshees on the national girls UAA circuit.

Another premier freshman playing on Wednesday night was Holmes from Madil. She produced a full stat line, fitting of the dominant and complete freshman campaign she had. 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. She has a rare combination of size and athleticism, something multiple D1 programs have recognized and already offered. It should be the first chapter of many State Tournament games for the sensational Southern Oklahoma prospect.

Madill has won 13 straight, and while some of it is the boost of the return of Holmes’ older sister, the younger Holmes sister is producing at a high clip as well. She has one of the fullest stat lines you’ll see in Oklahoma, with 22.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.8 steals. Simply put, she’s too tall, too fast and too skilled for the opposition. It shouldn’t be a shock to see her hit the ground running after succeeding while playing up multiple grade levels this past summer. Holmes checks a lot of size and athleticism boxes that coaches look for at the next level. And with this freshman year production the offers should continue to roll in.

The elite freshman exerted herself in the second quarter, great first step for her size which allowed her to get downhill in the halfcourt. Also fast in transition, either pushing it herself or racing by defenders to work hard to get easy points. Has clear signs of being a complete scoring weapon. With the game tied in the closing moments, it was Holmes that Madill went to. And she delivered by sealing down low and converting the game winning bucket. Seconds later it was Holmes deflecting a post pass that would help secure the victory.
It was a big win for 10th ranked Madill, the type of quality win that should help them in a month when playoff seeding is decided. The win was made sweeter by the appearance of Holmes’ older sister E’Niyah. Also an elite recruit, she’s working her way back from a knee injury and had her moments in the win. With the Holmes sisters settling in, the rest of 4A better watch out.
