As the No. 2 seed hosting No. 3 seed Northwestern, Mater Lakes enters a tightly matched Sweet 16 battle with familiarity and motivation. Northwestern may have a veteran presence, but Mater Lakes has been more battle-tested this season against a tougher schedule, and the Bears edged NW by four just before Christmas. I expect both teams will arrive ready to adjust. The good news for Mater Lakes is that scoring is not an issue; they have multiple players who can put the ball in the basket. That means Giselle doesn’t have to carry an overwhelming offensive load, but she does have to do a little bit of everything like usual. Bringing steady energy and hustle, rebounding her position, making unselfish reads, and staying poised in key stretches will be critical. If she complements the team’s scoring with timely plays, controlled aggression, and consistent effort, her impact could be the subtle difference that sends the Bears to the Elite 8.

‘s footwork and ability to change pace when attacking the rim—finishing smoothly off either leg make her a constant threat and tough to defend around the basket. Last season at NSU, she showcased her shooting from all areas of the floor, whether off the catch or under pressure, while also running the point and creating opportunities for her teammates. Now transferring to Mater Lakes Academy to join forces with one of the top scorers in the state, Grant has a platform to prove herself and make a statement. With her talent, versatility, and drive, she’s a player who belongs in the conversation and is poised to make a major impact this season.

‘s footwork and ability to change pace when attacking the rim—finishing gracefully off either leg—make her a constant threat and unpredictable around the basket. Last season at NSU, she showcased her shooting ability both off the catch, open or contested, while also running the PG position effectively and finding open teammates. As a freshman, she averaged 10.1 PPG and 2.4 STL/G. Now transferring to Mater Lakes Academy to play alongside one of the top scorers in the state, Grant will have even more room to shine. With a breakout sophomore season, she has the opportunity to break into the Top 50 in our next rankings.
