Gracie Schoonhoven Gracie Schoonhoven 5'11" | PF Unity Christian | 2023 State IA and Unity Christian High School will return as the 3A favorites to win it all during the 22′-23′ season after having a very successful year ending at state last winter. Schoonhoven is the complete stretch forward that everyone wants one their squad. Leading 3A in scoring, ranking 2nd in assists, and being first in field goals made was just scratching the surface of what she can do for her team. When you watch her play the most impressive things to talk about other then the obviously superior basketball skill is the stats that don’t show up on paper, such as hustle, tipping passes, and getting on the ground first for a loose ball. She plays with all these intangible attributes every single possession, willing her team to success most of the time. This season for her senior year she will attempt to compete at the same level from a year ago with it ending in a championship. It won’t be easy but they could get it done.

Unity Christian High School lost in the 3A state championship one season ago, being led by junior Gracie Schoonhoven Gracie Schoonhoven 5'11" | PF Unity Christian | 2023 State IA . Schoonhoven had the most impressive stat line maybe out of all players in Iowa last year across all categories, doing a little bit of everything for her team. This season will be looked on as a “revenge” tour, as the Knights bring back a very experienced roster and a star in Schoonhoven. The 5’11 forward is an all around baller. She plays hard on both ends of the floor, plays smart whenever she is in the game, and plays consistent overall, leading her to put up massive numbers in every category this past year. When she gets into college she has the perfect skill set to play a 2 or 3 guard depending on the competition. Being her upcoming senior year, it’ll be fun to see what this Unity Christian team can put together as they come in as this seasons 3A favorite to win it all. Schoonhoven will be herself and if her teammates can add to it, they will do some big things together.

Gracie Schoonhoven Gracie Schoonhoven 5'11" | PF Unity Christian | 2023 State IA ranked #3 in total scoring in Iowa Women’s High School basketball last season for the Unity Christian Knights, averaging 24.7 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 5.4 APG, and shooting 71.1% from the free throw line. The future college combo guard was the most efficient scorer in the state throughout all classes as well at 72.8% from the field. Her ability to score all over the floor mixed with her aggressive nature on the glass makes her a college coaches dream athlete. Schoonhoven is a quick learner and is good at making in game adjustments. She will look to top how well she did last season for her senior year, from a team stand point and individually, which will be a challenge after finishing just 24-2 overall, 10-0 in conference and as conference champions.

Gracie starts her senior year hoping to have an identical season as 21′-22′. Where she lead Unity Christian High School to the 3A state semi-finals, averaging 24.7 PPG on 73% shooting, 7.5 RPG, and 5.4 APG. Ranking her #1 in 3A scoring with 642 points, #2 in assists with 141 assists, and #8 in steals with 95 on the season. With all these numbers the real factor that stands out to me is Gracies physicality. Averaging over a little more than 5 free throws per game she is a fan of contact and finishing at the rim. It will be a very intriguing season to see what Gracie can do with this Unity Christian team that will only have herself as a returning starter.
