Mairs was sensational for Portsmouth in her junior year and she was a prominent figure in taking them deep into the RI State Tournament. The magnitude of her dynamic playmaking can’t be spoken for enough. Gyselle is going to have a ton of coaches reaching out in short time, if they haven’t already.

From first watch, it was clear how dynamically talented Mairs is. She’s a force multiplier that pierces the defense with her big play ability. There’re not many in the state that have the influence she does, so it’s no surprise Gyselle has been named Rhode Island’s Preseason Player of the Year.

Mairs is a dynamic playmaker on both sides of the ball. She’s a player that should command more attention from schools, but with a big junior year ahead of her, more are likely to reach out. The junior guard is a powerful influence on the game and competes to the highest degree. Gyselle moves freely around the floor, showing she’s comfortable wherever. Her blazing speed in combination with slithery separation skills make her a dazzling watch.

Portsmouth’s star guard is one of the top players in the state. Gyselle is quite dynamic and can flourish in up-tempo games as well as remaining potent within the halfcourt too. Mairs isn’t just a force on offense though, her defensive playmaking must be mentioned too. Her fast feet in combination with quick reactionary skills makes her a high-powered player.

It’s been about a year now of raving about Mairs now and for good reason. She’s regularly outperforming at tournaments while being pleasant on the eyes, catching many eyes with her delightful game. There’s never a dull moment watching Mairs go to work. It’s marvelous watching how graceful, yet powerful she can be controlling the ball.

This past weekend Gyselle showed out yet again, demonstrating that dynamic ability plus next level quickness that makes her a 2-way threat. Mairs doesn’t fade away in games either. The ’27 pg was outright sturdy through the entirety of the game. She was ready to play from the minute she touched the floor too. There wasn’t a play taken off and was also able to fight through adversity. High-energy and resilience are just a few more characteristics that can be added to her description.

Gyselle was one of the hottest up and coming prospects last year, but is now considered to be one of RI’s top talents. She’s a complete gamechanger on the floor for Portsmouth. When looking at her play, she’s absolutely electrifying. Mairs is a consistent playmaker. The #4 ranked point guard is regularly controlling various levels of the defense with sly dribbling techniques, showcasing her ability to pull up from anywhere and has shown she has a knack for keeping plays alive. Mairs crafts positive outcomes from situations that seem unfathomable. Not just an offensive player though, Gyselle brings tough nosed attributes to the other side of the ball too. She hustles to the loose balls and loves to pluck the ball loose from weak ballhandlers. Her skill at making guards turn their bodies greatly aids the defense due to the time taken off the clock before they could start a play. There is no outrunning Mairs either; she’ll track anyone down in a footrace. It’ll be exciting to see Gyselle get a chance to be let loose during AAU. Her game is extremely fun to watch.

The incredibly skilled point guard led Portsmouth in the 46-31 win over Durfee. Gyselle had an impactful double-double with an additional 2 steals on the night. She was able to carefully pick apart the defense with pinpoint passes, as well as lane penetration. Her ability to make plays and make the correct reads on the spot equate to her being one of the best points in Rhode Island.

Not everyone in the region is familiar with Mairs’ game, but that won’t be for long. Gyselle is a 3-level scorer that’s one of the best talents in all of Rhode Island public schools, regardless of the class. She logged heavy minutes while carrying substantial responsibilities for her team. The productivity plus her capacity to naturally play the game at high level should be spoken for. Gyselle plays basketball like its poetry. Her exceptional pace work in the halfcourt and in transition. She’s a clever ballhandler that can break players down with her dribble, but she typically uses it to help facilitate comfortably. Mairs can make any pass on the floor and she uses her scoring opportunities to get easier looks for others. The defense needs to be mentioned too. She isn’t afraid of guarding players on an island, nor is she intimidated by guarding off-ball scorers as well. Gyselle likes to bait players into mistakes and loves to make plays on the ball.

Mairs is the #4 ranked point guard and #13 in the entire class.

Currently ranked the #2-point guard in the region, Mairs is a tremendous talent that possesses unbelievable ball manipulation skills and uses misdirection dribbles to get pretty much anywhere she wants on the floor. The handle simply can’t be spoken about enough. Gyselle has the capacity to score from 3 levels efficiently and when she isn’t overwhelming defenders with the scoring techniques, she is using the threat of scoring to open up opportunities for teammates. The playmaking skills are just as impressive. She allows her speed to help facilitate the pace of the game and keeps constant pressure on the defense. On the other side of the ball, Gyselle uses her quick first step to react on the flight of the ball. She is constantly looking for ways to make plays on the ball to get out in transition. Mairs is scheduled for a big season this year. Keep an eye out for the ’27 star.

The Portsmouth young star is coming as one of the best points in Rhode Island. Mairs offers dominate shooting, dynamic attacks, crazy assists and a competitive mindset along with consistent play at the point. Gyselle loves to push the pace and put points on the board. Her attacking nature usually has defenders on their heels all game. She is capable of putting up a ton of points in a quick burst. If she finds open lanes, she will make the defense collapse and she’s easily capable of making any pass on the floor. Mairs plays with a certain level of swagger on the floor that is just eye-catching. She has beautiful moves while poetically using her timing along with her smooth handle to get where she wants on the floor. Her speedy burst helps her on the defensive side of the ball too. She can keep up with just about anybody in front her while in a low shuffling stance. Overall, Gyselle is a tremendous talent looking to add to put more on notice this season.
