On the same court one of McCalister’s older brothers won a State Championship on, she was fittingly a terror on the defensive end in a win for Del City. Was credited with 6 steals and played with a poise beyond her young years.
When the Lady Eagles made their move to pull ahead in the fourth, it was her defensive play and steady playmaker that delivered the knockout punch. She’s quick and strong, got downhill and handed out 5 assists. Finishing and free throw shooting are room for improvement, but she still reached double figures with 10 points.

It’s probably not allowed for a McCalister to play at Del City and not take pride on the defensive end. Just like her older brothers, McCalister is a quick and smart defender. She gets low in her stance and slides her quick feet with the best of them. Which she often does for all 94 feet, all while understanding help line principles. Leading to steals and buckets from herself and her teammates. Del City is turning into a regular at the Class 5A State Tournament. With sophomores Baker and McCalister bringing it on the defensive end, expect that to continue.

Quick combo guard that makes things happen on offense and defense. Scoring threat on offense with the ability to knock down the 3-pointer or turn the corner getting to the pain. A touch pocket dribble freezes the defense then hits them with a change of gear getting to the rim. Versatile guards can do just as much without the ball in hand scoring on backdoor cuts and offensive rebounds.
Quick rotation on the press taking away any cross-court passes. Low stance and quick lateral footwork allowed her to apply pressure without getting beaten off the dribble. A 2028 to mark down as her role will increase for the top 5a preseason team Del City Lady Eagles

Quick guard that used a nice patient pocket dribble getting by the defender for the layup. The combo guard has good handles at the point guard position and can shoot the 3-pointer allowing her to bump out at times. The explosiveness and quick drives caught my attention. A player you are going to hear a lot about this season.

Since first watching McCalister, speed and defense have characterized her game. Which is still true, as she was disruptive on defense and a blur in transition. And now she seems to be adjusting and settling more into the role of being a true PG. Routinely got paint touches in the halfcourt. Leading to her scoring herself or dropping dimes to teammates near the rim. Or kicking it out to perimeter players. Very promising showing of the growth of McCalister’s feel as a playmaker. Looks ready for an even bigger role and impact for a Del City team aiming for another Class 5A State Tournament appearance.

A combo shooting guard that has a motor on both ends of the floor. Liked the pressure applied into turnovers leading to easy buckets for her team. A quick first step blowing the defenders on the wing getting that paint touch collapsing the defense. Understood the reads on the drives: drop off to the post or kick to the shooter or take it to the rack. A competitor is what stood out to go along with her play.

When you speak of ball pressure this weekend and not giving up any space at all Jaciah was that person this weekend. Played the second line of the press and showed great timing on jumping the next passing lane for the steal. Made the correct reads off the steal which lead to points off turnovers. A guard that has very quick lateral footwork working the ball handler side to side not giving up any gap drives. The ball pressure was like that of a corner back in football. It was quick, physical and not going to get beat.

Athletic and defensive minded guard, who featured on Del City’s 5A State Tournament squad. Two of her more productive games came in pivotal wins over top district foe, Classen SAS. Her speed helps her on defense, but has good awareness and anticipation. Making her a “right place, right time” player to slide over to help at the rim, track down a loose ball, or even grab a rebound and push it. Plays unselfish in transition, while also capable of finishing through contact for “And 1s”. Bright future for McCalister as part of a rising Del City program, full of talent.

Jaciah has a great showing of a strong skill set Saturday. Great ball handling with a nice shifty crossover that had the defender taking steps backwards. Tough match up when she has the outside going because of her first blow by step off the dribble. Nice step through footwork on the layup to split the defense for the score. Impressive on both ends of the floor Saturday and will be a nice addition to Del City program.
