Expert Analysis

Jada took a huge stride this year and earned herself All-EDC honors. She was one of only two freshmen in the East to be selected to the All-Conference team. Jada will be going into her 4th season playing varsity basketball in 2026-2027 and I expect her to take another big step next season. She has shown continual improvement and a strong desire to get better. She grinds in the offseason and plays on a good Sanford 15U Black squad. Johnson’s very difficult to stop going to her left. If you cut her off, she is able to pivot and use an up-and-under move to get back to her strong hand.

The sharp shooting lefty is having a great freshman season for the West Fargo Packers. She dropped 27 in her most recent game against Grand Forks Central, which brought her scoring average up to 13.8 points per game. She is an excellent prospect due to her size, length, and athletic ability. She also has a lot of room to grow. She will need to get into the weight room to increase strength which will allow her to finish better in traffic. If she is able to accomplish this, the sky is the limit.

West Fargo is going to need Jada to start and play big minutes if they hope to improve their win total from last season. She has been up on the varsity roster for two seasons now and has enough experience under her belt to break into the starting lineup. She is a slippery lefty who seems to have gotten better each time I see her play. She has all of the tools in her toolbox to be an outstanding player for the Packers.

Johnson will have the unique experience of having two varsity seasons under her belt as she heads into her freshman year of high school. Each year she has shown some growth and this summer she had a lot of break out moments that showed how high of a ceiling she has as a prospect. She grew into her frame a bit which shows her commitment to getting stronger. She looks faster and quicker with the ball and is playing with a high level of confidence. She has a smooth looking shot that looks to be more accurate. I think Jada will be a 4-year starter and multiple All-EDC selection.

Jada displayed her potential on Thursday with some terrific play. The smooth lefty was really good in the half-court. She was able to effectively keep space based off of her teammates movements. She was really good cutting by the rim where she received multiple dump-off passes for layups. She knocked down threes with her high arcing shot and competed defensively.

Jada is a promising prospect and one I am eager to watch progress through high school. She is a lanky lefty who does a nice job of getting to her strong hand and driving to the basket. She runs the floor well in transition and can space the floor with her smooth shot. She has the tools to be great defensively and will be fun to keep an eye on moving forward.

Jada has great basketball in her genes, with her mother being a former Miss Basketball and standout at NDSU. Jada has been coming off of the bench consistently this season and played quite a bit of varsity last season as a 7th grader. She is long and athletic and very good at going to her left. She seems to be gaining confidence and conviction in her play as the season has progressed and is someone I anticipate having a very productive high school career. She has a nice shooting form and is able to knock down the three when her feet are set. When Jada puts on some strength in the offseason, look out.
