Expert Analysis
Danyle Bowers | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Jaila established herself as one of Muskegon’s most reliable and versatile threats last season, earning First Team All-Conference honors with her all-around impact. She was a problem in the paint, carving out space, powering through defenders, and finishing plays while drawing fouls at a high rate. Her touch from the perimeter forced defenses to respect her outside presence, making her dangerous both inside and out. On the defensive end, Jaila’s toughness showed as she battled bigger matchups, held her position, and delivered key stops when her team needed them most. She’s poised to be a major force again this season.

Jaila proved to be a force on both ends of the court, showcasing her versatility as a player who can operate effectively inside and out. In the post, she battled for position with determination, using her strength to seal defenders and finish through contact — often earning trips to the free-throw line. Her physicality and patience made her a consistent scoring option around the rim, while her ability to step out and stretch the floor added another layer to her game. Defensively, Jaila brought toughness and grit, matching up well against bigger opponents and holding her ground in key moments.

Jaila came out firing, and she knocked down multiple triples during the 3v3 segment. Jaila was a force on the offensive glass for Team 6–her physicality, effort, and determination on both ends stand out. Jaila is a powerhouse on the court, using her strength and defensive instincts to disrupt opponents and create turnovers. She has a knack for getting her hands on the ball, coming up with steals, and making plays on both ends. Offensively, she can knock down shots from deep and finish through contact at the rim. I expect her to have a breakout AAU season this spring and summer.

Jaila had a significant impact in her team’s victory over Jenison. On the first play of the game, she stole the ball and made a great pass to her teammate for an easy basket. She then turned around, stole the ball again, and drove to the hoop herself. Jaila made several shots from beyond the arc and finished the game with 13 points. I expect her to have an outstanding junior season.

She demonstrated combination dribbles and ball-handling control that resulted in many drives by defenders for buckets at the rim. Jaila blocked shots with authority in the paint, finished strong off two feet in contested situations, and outworked her opponents for offensive rebounds. Jaila put her high motor, athleticism, strength, quickness, and physicality on display at The Expo and was an impressive prospect competing for Team 10. Jaila thundered her way through defenders off the dribble and scored many layups at the rim. She accelerated around a defender to secure an offensive rebound and convert the putback. Jaila made two ferocious blocks at the rim and used her shifty crossover/between-the-leg dribbles to attack defenders and score contested layups.
