Stephens is truly a phenomenal basketball player. Once she gets the ball down low, it is a “bbq chicken alert,” and she has no trouble finishing over taller defenders, especially with that soft touch. Stephens is also an incredible defender, and though she is standing well over 6’0″, she has shown that she can lockdown guards on the perimeter, mainly because of her tenacity and her freakish quickness.

If I had a list of players in the state who were sort of unicorns (truly special talents), I would throw Jakayla Stephens Jakayla Stephens 6'1" | PF/C Hampton | 2027 State AR on there without question (I might actually do that for an article).

Stephens has already attracted Division I attention, despite playing for 2A-8 Hampton, but that is thanks to the ability to contribute on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she scores with ease in the post. She can finish through contact with her strength and athleticism.

On the other end, Stephens uses her 6’1″ frame to her advantage. She is a great rebounder who can grab dozens of boards a night. She can also block shots at a high rate, effectively locking down the painted area.
