Before the game, Jenna jokingly asked me to write something good about her. I told her to give me a reason to. It didn’t even take one quarter of her stellar defense to know that I was gonna be writing about her once again. Make a lazy pass near the top of the arc with

around at your own peril. She will have it in her hands and be on the way to finish at the other end before you even know what happened. It happened over and over and over. It always does when I see her play. Defense to offense, in the blink of an eye. Numerous schools at the next level have taken notice and if you don’t, you’re going to regret it when she’s doing it to your team next year.

— as soon as Jenna walks onto the court, there is an aura about her that exudes confident! — she was not one of the players who looked around timidly or a player who was uncertain of “what to do next”. — she looked at her basket, tucked in her jersey & was ready to go! Jenna was locked in on both ends of the floor – she was able to get downhill through traffic numerous times in all three games and scored from a variety of spots with high efficiency. — she excels on the offensive end but when she is defending her opponents, she is zoned in and prepared to attack. — she is quick on her feet and keeps “her man” in front of her. — she knows where all 5 players are and was one of the best “help side” defenders at The Hive! – she can score, she can defend (very well), she can rebound with the bigs & most importantly, her passion for the game is seen throughout her play!

Yes, I wrote about Jenna last week. But, if you remember, I mentioned that I was interested in seeing her in person and seeing if the tape was real. Funny story about that… I didn’t recognize Jenna when she was warming up. Flash forward to the game and there was that lockdown defense. Eighty-four feet of hell for any player that was matched up against her. She was relentless. I almost felt bad for whichever player she was matched up against. Like, this is a showcase, maybe you should let them showcase a little, too, Jenna. I mean, who forces a 10-second call in a showcase like this? Add to that the things that I couldn’t see on tape. I saw her coaching from the bench, encouraging teammates, hitting big three’s when her team needed it, and seeing a pass ahead while making plays. Coaches, make the call. You’re gonna want this player on your squad. Thank me later.

Jenna is a defensive wizard. Period. Watching her video is just plain fun. The camera is fixed on one player trying to pass it to a teammate up the court, sometimes off screen and in comes this little flash of speed. That’s Jenna. Lightning fast. She’s read the play and come in to make the ball hers. Once she has it, her eyes are up, her handles are fluid, and she’s making the right basketball play. Just like Annie, she has announced that she will be in the I-35 Showcase this weekend and I cannot wait to witness in person what I have been seeing on video. If you’re a coach that needs a guard who can defend, force turnovers, run things at the point, and shoot it (which is all of us), then you might want to get to The Hive to check this young lady out on Saturday.
