You may already know them. You may not. Either way, I’m gonna tell you about them and hopefully, you’ll get out to an Expo or one of their high school games and get eyes on them for yourselves. We’ve got so much talent here in Oklahoma, that it can be easy to miss some great ballers. That’s where I come in. Check these five tremendous athletes out!
We all know the story about how I left for a while and came back. Well, so did Annie, unfortunately due to an injury. But, I was certain that when I came back she would be committed somewhere. I mean, this kid is an absolute beast in every facet of the game! A leader on and off the court, you really couldn’t ask for more. Since coming back, she literally has not missed a single step. She still plays with abandon. She still goes hard all game and gives you everything she has. Her IQ looks to have gotten even higher from spending some forced time on the bench watching her team play. Annie can still fill it up from long range. This kid is unbelievable and it’s wonderful to see that she hasn’t slowed down at all. If you don’t wake up and offer her, you are most definitely going to be regretting it sooner, rather than later.
Highlights
Jenna is a defensive wizard. Period. Watching her video is just plain fun. The camera is fixed on one player trying to pass it to a teammate up the court, sometimes off screen and in comes this little flash of speed. That’s Jenna. Lightning fast. She’s read the play and come in to make the ball hers. Once she has it, her eyes are up, her handles are fluid, and she’s making the right basketball play. Just like Annie, she has announced that she will be in the I-35 Showcase this weekend and I cannot wait to witness in person what I have been seeing on video. If you’re a coach that needs a guard who can defend, force turnovers, run things at the point, and shoot it (which is all of us), then you might want to get to The Hive to check this young lady out on Saturday.
Jahmonica is a strong, tough guard who isn’t afraid to do all of the little things that a team needs in order to win. She hustles all game long. Her shot is lightning quick, fluid, and just plain pretty. She works hard, especially on the defensive end, and her team most definitely feeds off of her intensity and enthusiasm. I’ve seen Jahmonica at several showcases and in high school game action throughout the years and my notes are always the same. She has that “wants it” factor that you can’t teach. There are no plays off. This is the kind of player that you NEED on your team.
“Positionless” basketball is a really big thing right now and I’m not sure anybody in Oklahoma embodies that more than Amirah does. She is built like a really strong, tough guard. She plays like a big who can shoot it. She is unafraid to crash the boards and racks up the rebounds because of it. She also has the handles to bring it up court, if need be. On top of all of that, she shows the ability to score from pretty much anywhere. She has a quick shot from deep, with a very high release. She has some good post moves and hits her free throws consistently. Wherever you decide to utilize her, you will not be disappointed.

Sometimes I like to go off on tangents and tell you guys what a good highlight video should look like, and I’m gonna do that again here. By watching THIS VIDEO, I can see everything that I need to see in order to know that Emma can play in college (well, that, and I’ve seen her play in person before). Coaches, watch this and tell me you don’t have a place on your team for a player who… will launch a beautiful three-pointer when the defense goes to sleep on her, will rebound and find the open teammate, will make a pretty pass into the lane to their big, can dribble-drive when the defense gets nervous of her shooting, can force a turnover with her defense, can flat-out just take it away, and lastly is willing to take a charge. Emma is a college basketball player and I rest my case, your honor.
