Kyle Sandy | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
The Emmanuel-signee buried a handful of threes, knocking down at least four. Azeltine is ready off the catch and has deep range. If defenders try to cheat out to take away her three, she is a quick athlete that can get to the rim in a blink. She uses her pull-up jumper from the mid-range to her advantage. Azeltine’s activity on defense gives her value at the next level.

After a slow start against a face guard, the Emmanuel-commit broke out in the third quarter with 11 points to spring Oconee County ahead, gaining separation and not looking back in a 72-55 win. Azeltine’s aggressive style of play filled up the box score. Her defense started things, playing centerfield in the diamond press, picking off passes showcasing her athleticism and instincts. Julie excels at playing off the ball on offense, loving to read defenders and cut backdoor. When left open for threes, Julie seemingly always delivers a big blow from distance. Julie doesn’t force things on offense and is a heady passer that kicks to the open man. She went down with a knee bruise and later an ankle injury that knocked her out of the game in the fourth quarter, but Azeltine managed to file away 21 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals and 1 block.

Julie has made a name for herself, in Northeast GA, as one of the best sharp shooters. She can light it up, from behind the arc, and does so with good form and technique. She’s the vocal leader on the team and helps direct traffic even when she doesn’t have the ball in her hands. She handles the ball well, has good court vision, and runs the lanes well in transition. Julie has a great feel for the game and doesn’t force plays to happen. Her ability to knock down mid range jumpers also opens up passing lanes, where she showcases her ability to find open teammates. As she continues working on being a defensive stopper, her stock will continue to rise for college coaches to see.
