The Mustangs don’t miss a beat with Kia on the floor. She is effective as a starter or coming off the bench. She has the shot to keep defenders from playing off of her and the speed to get by them if they get too close. She is a solid point guard that seemed to make the right play on every possession.
She has an infectiously positive attitude that spreads throughout the team whether she is on the bench or on the floor, which is something her coaches will absolutely love about her on the college level.

Kai is a solid point guard that has shown her ability to lead a team with high level players. She has good vision and controls the floor, she delivers the ball to her teammates in position to score. Her ability to make shots makes it difficult to leave her open and double.

Bullis is already recognized as one of the best teams in the DMV, but I still think they aren’t close to their potential. They have so much great young talent, one of those being Kai Powell. Kai is a great two-way player, and she was a contributor for Bullis in her Sophomore season. She is a good driver and an aggressive finisher. She is a decent shooter and an all-around good player. Kai figuring it out will elevate Bullis to a new level.

Kai shown that she can do everything at various times in the tournament. Her 7 rebounds against St. Frances was more than many of the post players had. She attacked the basket getting to the line a game high six times against Holy Child. She had a game where she led in assists and then she showed her shooting touch in the championship game. Once she puts everything together, it’s going to be special to watch.

She made shots from outs and on the break. She showed her ability to score and was directly responsible for half of the points that her teammates scored which is what a true point guard does.

Kai locked down on the defensive end and made life miserable for the Hawks back court players. She showed some shifty ball handling which she used to change directions in mid drive to finish at the basket. Her 9 first half points led all scorers.
