Kaitlin plays as a stretch-four, making her a dangerous shooter from beyond the arc and giving her team more space to operate. She’s also effective in the paint, using her size to score over opposing post players. This dual ability to shoot and dominate inside makes her a valuable weapon offensively. Kaitlin’s skill set opens up the floor for her guards, while still being a threat inside.

Kaitlin is a matchup nightmare for opposing teams, thanks to her combination of strength and size. Once she establishes her position, her footwork around the basket is one of a kind. Which leaves defenders with little to no chance of stopping her. Kaitlin’s ability to create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates makes her an essential part of any team.

Recording a lofty number of blocks throughout the first day of the event, Schumann recorded right around 10 blocks through her first two matchups for Horizon. One of the premier rim protectors in the state, her combination of height and above average instincts make her a pest defending the rim. She continues to show upside as a spot-up shooter, developing her efficiency from deep. Her offensive role will dramatically progress this season with Horizon, as one of the few upperclassmen still within that group.

An intriguing shot blocker and occassional floor spacer in the frontcourt, Schumann brings one of the most unique skillsets at her height within the state. A very tall defender who mitigates many shot attempts through her presence alone, Schumann will be an important prospect within this group’s context.

Horizon’s season came to an end Thursday morning at The Coliseum but the performance Kaitlin was able to put on was one for the books. In 26 minutes of play she went 3-8 from the floor, ending the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She played with a lot of energy and provided her team with opportunities to get easy looks. Schumann brings plenty of skill in and outside the arc, certainly one of the more versatile bigs in this class. Displaying a consistent form from the three point line throughout various showcase events this summer, the forward is primed for another opportunity of growth. This goes alongside her immense value defending the paint, both on the glass and through blocked shots. Schumann looks to be one of state’s most potent rim protectors yet again, following her 2.2 blocks per game, landing her 6th among all athletes in the 6A class.
