and Ella Copeland. She is a very skilled combo guard who was impressive the times I watched Booker T Washington this high school season. She plays with a maturity and patience beyond her years playing up. She does a really nice job dictating the pace and tempo and not letting full court or on ball pressure bother her. She was very efficient scoring from all three levels while not forcing shots or trying to make something happen when it was not there. Thomas saw the floor well and her decision making was on point when choosing to give the ball up to an open teammate or create for herself off the bounce. She shot the ball well in the games I watched from the midrange as well as the three point line.

Kalyn knocked down several clutch shots throughout the weekend and scored the ball consistently from all three levels during her time on the floor. She takes pride on the defensive end and hounds the ball with strong pressure and active hands. KT showed good elevation on her mid-range jumper with nice rotation on her shot and a clean release. She also played off two feet multiple times in transition, which allowed her to stay balanced and in control when finishing plays.

brings a well-rounded skillset highlighted by her athleticism, length, and defensive presence. She excels at disrupting offenses with active hands, strong on-ball pressure, and the ability to generate steals in passing lanes. Offensively, she is most effective attacking downhill, using her quickness to get to the rim and finish in transition. Thomas also stretches the floor with her ability to knock down the three and has shown a knack for stepping up in crunch-time moments when the game is on the line. Her high motor and energy consistently impact the game, allowing her to contribute on both ends of the court.

showed her versatility and resilience in the 5A semifinals and finals, scoring 25 points in the two games against some of the best and most experienced guards in the state. It wasn’t a cake walk, and that’s what made Thomas’s performance special – she competed. There were plays where the opponent got the best of her, and then Thomas would come down and get the best of her opponent- that’s the competition that brought the best out of Thomas. She utilized her speed, good ball handling, trust in her teammates, and an impressive basketball IQ – anticipating and reacting under pressure. Thomas finished with multiple rebounds and defensive stops, showing the ability to defend, rebound, and contribute in transition and offense- when the opportunities presented themselves. Her speed and athleticism allowed her to cover ground defensively and create transition chances for her team. Thomas didn’t disappoint – she competed and in the end made enough plays to shift momentum and ultimately impact the final outcome – a state championship.

KT provided the clutch factor that every championship team needs. She scored 9 points, but it was the timing of her jumpers that deflated Ely’s momentum. She played a steady 28 minutes, contributed 5 rebounds, and stayed disciplined on defense. In a game decided by just two points, her efficiency from the perimeter (including a crucial 3-pointer) provided the spacing Booker T desperately needed.

continued her impressive sophomore campaign with a standout performance on the State’s stage. She finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists, knocking down 3 three-pointers and helping push the tempo in transition. Her speed and burst in the open floor were evident, and her perimeter shooting made a major difference in the game. Thomas also “clutch” down the stretch – hitting a key three in the fourth quarter that helped shift the momentum for good. Defensively, she played well on the ball and made it difficult all game long for the opponent.

(cover photo) proved to be the X-Factor in the Regional Quarterfinals, scoring 13 points and leading her team on to the next round. Thomas has been impressive all year and it’s the energy that she brings to the floor that impacts the game. Thomas has a nice mid-range game, a good attack game, and she excels in transition with her speed, athleticism, and finishing ability. Thomas also plays great defense on the ball and the pressure she brings leads to steals for her teammates. For good reasons, teams gear their defense to stop Clardy and Francis. Thomas reminds teams that she is a player and X-Factor to be reckoned with. She has been in this position all season long and has been an intricate part of the team’s success.

made her debut this season with a 14 point performance. The young guard is one of the top Sophomore guards in the state and there are a plethora of them in the state of Florida. Thomas has the ability to get down hill, she can shoot the three, and she is an exciting player in transition. If the opening game is the benchmark, look for a special season from the young Sophomore.

Kalyn showcased her ability to score early on with some treys and mid-range jumpers in the 3×3 portion of camp. She forced a number of turnovers with her on-ball defense which led to a ton of transition points. Her vision, handles, and unselfish play got her teammates good looks and easy assists in her stat line as one of the leaders on this team. KT was scoring it from all three levels with one of the toughest baseline jumpers I’ve seen.

was very impressive over the summer. Not only in high school ball but also on her travel team as well. If one thing is clear this upcoming season, she’s given Booker another option and that makes for a deadly team who was an injury away from making it probably winning it all last season. With a healthy team and a rising star in Thomas, Booker T Washington is a favorite to be in Lakeland. With Clardy and Francis on the roster, Thomas won’t have to drive the bus, but she will take the keys on occasion and play a major part in getting her squad to Lakeland.
