Leah was a player I knew heading into the event having seen her play with Booker T Washington in a couple different events last year (Insider Exposure Thanksgiving Classic and She Got Game) and covering her sister Nylah for the last few years. She has great size and length to go with elite athleticism. She moved very well in tight quarters in the post for size and age, which can be a challenge for some players. Looking ahead to college she has the frame and skill to play the stretch four position without question. With her athleticism and ever improving skill catching up, Leah could easily play on the perimeter as a big guard down the line. Right now I think she has the potential to be a very productive post player the next four years for sure. She is far from the finished product which I prefer at her age, because she has so much room to continue to get better. The signs are all positive for Brooks to have a great high school career the next four years at a very good Booker T Washington program.

Brooks rebounds the ball well and does a good job of initiating the break with her outlet passes, allowing her team to quickly transition from defense to offense. Defensively, she brings versatility and has shown the ability to step outside and defend on the perimeter. Offensively, Brooks can score on the blocks and has shown a good touch around the basket. As her offensive game continues to develop, Brooks already has several ways to make plays and leave her mark on a game.

Leah brings an impressive combination of size, strength, and skill to Florida’s 2030 class. She handles the ball well for a player with her frame and does a good job attacking the basket, where she can finish with either hand around the rim. Leah plays with confidence and physicality by using her strength to create advantages while continuing to expand her overall game. She is also carrying on a notable tradition by wearing No. 25, the same jersey worn by Chamiah Francis, which comes with plenty of expectations and some big shoes (or jersey) to fill. As she gains more varsity experience and continues to learn the speed, physicality, and nuances of the high school game, she will benefit from playing alongside talented guards who can help put her in positions to succeed. With her size, skill set, and willingness to learn, Leah has all the ingredients to continue developing into a high-level prospect over the coming years.

The young “Fresh” and company dropped that contest but may have gained a lot more in the process. No one is removing the void left by Francis in the middle, but that is the goal at Booker, and with her family pedigree, Leah Brooks Leah Brooks 6'0" | PF/C Booker T. Washington | 2030 FL is used to the expectations. On Day Two of the FABC, Brooks took some baby steps in that direction, and the sun will rise again.
