Expert Analysis

Katie was a playmaker in the backcourt who quickly grabbed my attention on Saturday during her game for Big 3 17U. She showed competency and a high IQ running the one or playing off the ball as a two guard. I took note of her smart basket cuts throughout the game. Katie cut to the rim for a catch and finish in stride and cut backdoor again down the baseline, landed under control with a jump stop, let the defender attempting to block her shot go soaring by, then calmly finished the layup off two feet. She used a quick spin move to drive by her defender up top and pulled up in the paint to hit a jumper over the help. Katie snatched a defensive rebound and immediately looked to score, pushing the ball up the floor, then pulling up from the elbow to sink the transition bucket. She’s a confident three-point shooter and had a solid showing at the PGH Great Lakes Region Finals.

Meehan has truly grown in her overall skillset. The handle has always been there, along with the ability to knock down the three ball, but she has added more playmaking to her game as well. The passes are pinpoint, sharp, and on target, and she knows how to put others in position to score. She is the catalyst for a solid Big 3 team and can continue to put them in winning situations.

Love what Meehan has done with the Wolverines this AAU season. Her confidence has stepped up a notch and so has her play. She is playing with such control that everything else is falling into place. Passing, shooting and ball movement have been stellar.

Rightfully earning a place on the varsity team, Meehan showed why she belongs on the varsity court. She makes incredibly smart passes and uses her speed to trap players and frustrate the heck out of them. Along with disrpupting the offense, she is a consistent shooter with a super high ceiling.

Meehan’s game constantly improves. Her speed and footwork separates her on the court from others. She can get through the toughest traps. Couple this with her spot on shooting and she is a triple threat.
