Holmes is moving up my Tip Sheet list after seeing her multiple times, including playing up at last season’s PGH Freshman Showcase see evaluations here). Seeing her “on the court” progression at each sighting speaks volumes about what’s coming. She attacks the basket strongly and finishes the same way, after the lick, but watching her maneuver past defenders in transitions was nice; so was her court vision across the board

Holmes was one of the standouts at the Houston United tryouts last year and also put on a show last season at the PGH Freshman Showcase while still in the 8th grade see evaluations here. Well, the heat continues, as the fire was fueled in the 3 on 3 competition, where she applied solid pressure, picked some pockets, and played the passing lane

Holmes might not be related to Sherlock, yet her detective skills in figuring things out defensively grabbed my attention early in the 3 on 3 as she actually understood how and when to switch, and that translated over to the 5 on 5 because not only did she apply heat in the set, she manned up baseline to baseline to help create turnovers. She also rebounded strongly on both ends, scored around the basket, putbacks included, and off the dribble

Holmes is “long and athletic” and I failed to mention that was the base earlier so her powerful first step coupled with her strong finishes after contact was nice, so was her going coast to coast to score while being defended, yes, she rebounds on both ends. She saw the floor in the set, as well as in transition, her “on the ball” pressure was solid as well as her timing to block shots. To top it off, she played the passing lane and handled the ball afterward
