Freshman Showcase: Breaking Down Team 2

I'm closing out the Saturday evals on the freshmen; I'll revisit some notes later, as each evaluator was assigned 2 teams. Mine were 1 and 2, and, like the sneaky guys spreading misinformation online as well as podcasts, I was hovering around all the teams to identify who would be added to the rankings, as well as the Watch List, no agenda or misinformation will ever come from me. Some things you can't teach, and her BATTLING for loose balls, in the air, off the rim, or on the floor is #THROWBACK. Her defense was solid, as was her pull-up jumper, but her upside is also high     Devone gave me a great first look during the season at Shooting 4 Da Cure, a perfect example of being where I can see you, and I was so impressed with her being heady and applying heat defensively <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2026/04/new-faces-from-shooting-4-da-cure/">see evaluation here</a>. Yet the tide has turned upward because her crossover was among the best at the event, as she scored off the dribble and gave me the "catch and shoot" while being defended     Plumlee had me going off the top with her defense during the 3-on-3, yet seeing her "follow her shot" multiple times deserves my #THROWBACK hashtag, but the pressure continued when the bright lights came on in 5-on-5, and watching her not only score off the dribble but drop the "catch and shoot" with a hand in her face from outside looked good as well     Singla made my "On The Ball" defender list in the 3-on-3;<a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2026/09/freshman-showcase-3-on-3-on-the-ball-defenders/"> see evaluation here</a>, and nothing changed when we moved to full-court play, because guess what: the pressure intensified baseline to baseline as she created havoc, leading to turnovers. She used a deceptive first step to score off the dribble; she also created her shot and dropped the jumper, "catch and shoot" included, plus she went after loose balls on the floor     Zurita was evaluated by both of my colleagues in the 3 on 3 session <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/haley-zurita/">see evaluations here</a>, and both of them gave an earful, but when she stepped on the court for the 5 on 5, she understood how to use her athleticism on both ends of the court off the top. She scored off the dribble, showed solid body control after contact, and she created her shot from outside and dropped it, yep "catch and shoot" included     Holmes is moving up my Tip Sheet list after seeing her multiple times, including playing up at last season's PGH Freshman Showcase <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/kendall-holmes-2/">see evaluations here</a><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/kendall-holmes-2/" target="_blank">)</a>. Seeing her "on the court" progression at each sighting speaks volumes about what's coming. She attacks the basket strongly and finishes the same way, after the lick, but watching her maneuver past defenders in transitions was nice; so was her court vision across the board     Ford impressed both Nicole and me during the 3 on 3 games with her intensity on defense <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/atalia-ford/">see evalautions here</a>, but when you fall into that "never takes a play off" group, you're ahead of the curve. She's long and athletic and a couple of shades shy of "the magic number," but that doesn't matter because she plays above it; yeah, I'm dropping #THROWBACK. On offense, she went berserk, dropping the mid- to long-range and finishing off the dribble acrobatically, but her "catch and shoot" was another plus, as was her timing to block shots
