Hermsen is someone we haven’t spoken too much about this Winter but she is another CG, that is talented for her size/position. She moves well off of the ball and she is very good at understanding how the spacing on the floor works within her team’s offenses. Hermsen is not afraid of the spotlight. She is used to it at this point so I’m expecting some big things in this battle. If she plays her cards right and takes what the defense gives her, the Panthers are going to come out successful.

Kennedy Hermsen Kennedy Hermsen 5'7" | CG Monticello | 2026 State IA is definitely Up Next for Monticello — the 5’7″ combo guard brings a diverse skillset and is unruffled in big moments. Last night, Hermsen showed she’s more than capable adjusting to defenses and scoring against them. Against high-pressure defense, Hermsen used a number of dribble moves to get to the rim (including a spin move, between the legs, and hesitation). She also moves well off the ball and scored on a slick back cut to evade the denial defender. She also looked very comfortable shooting off the dribble and popping three pointers from deep.

On Tuesday evening the Monticello Panthers hosted Beckman Catholic and ended up winning to defend their home court. In this contest, the leading scorer of the game was SG, Kennedy Hermsen Kennedy Hermsen 5'7" | CG Monticello | 2026 State IA . Hermsen is a player out of the 2026 Class that has a promising future as it pertains to basketball. She is someone that is very good at shooting from all over the floor off of both the catch or the dribble. In this specific game, Hermsen ended with 29 Points on 9-17 shooting, including being 5-12 from behind the line. This Panthers team is very well coached and very good at what they do. If they are going to want to stay successful come Playoff time, Hermsen is going to have to be a big part of their run. If she can efficiently shoot the ball from the arc once others create for her, this team is going to be very hard to stop. They still have a few more regular season games to come but once the Post-season is upon us, that’s when things get real and we are going to see who the real players are.

A player that jumped on the basketball scene last year, some-what out of nowhere was Kennedy Hermsen Kennedy Hermsen 5'7" | CG Monticello | 2026 State IA of Monticello. Hermsen stepped up and was a big time contributor all season long on the floor for the Panthers. She showed off a number of skills while helping her team to victory a good amount of the time. I’m excited to see what she is going to be able to do for her sophomore year. This group at Monticello is going to return a good amount of their players from last season. The coaching within this program has always been top notch so we will have to wait and see what they can string together. If Hermsen does her thing and Jaden Kuper stays consistent, they will have a very successful year, especially in conference.
