With having a vast amount of skilled players out of this state, throughout all age levels, to be named as basically 1 of the Top 25 for an age group, for an entire AAU season speaks volumes. It shows to everyone watching out there that no matter the stage, competition level, or situation in front of the player – They WILL succeed. Below is the list of players selected to the Honorable Mention list, for the 15U age level, for this spring/summer AAU season. This will be followed by a brief write-up explaining their individual play-style. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Tessa Driscoll Tessa Driscoll 5'8" | SG City High | 2026 State IA – 2026 – SG – All Iowa Attack 15U EYBL – City High H.S.
A quick thinking guard that can direct her team to victories in any occasion. A player that gives it all she has, when she is on the floor and that, mixed with her skill, has proven to be a consistent problem for others teams when trying to stay in front on her. This winter at City High H.S. Driscoll will look to build on what her and August Palmer August Palmer 5'10" | PG Iowa City-City High | 2025 State IA started last season. With these two gaurds in the correct system, it could mean a long night for opposing teams.
Kennedy Hermsen Kennedy Hermsen 5'7" | CG Monticello | 2026 State IA – 2026 – SG – Team Iowa 15U BlueStar – Monticello H.S.
Kennedy Hermsen Kennedy Hermsen 5'7" | CG Monticello | 2026 State IA is a shooting guard that displays incredible accuracy when letting the ball go from deep. She has a fundamental stance and a quick release, resulting in a lot of makes from the shooting guard. She displays a solid handle and the ability to move to some other spots on the floor if need be but she definitely thrives at the 2-3 position. She proved that this spring/summer AAU season with her Team Iowa 15U BlueStar team. I’m excited to see what she can bring to the table at Monticello high school this winter, where she did a fantastic job last year of letting her name be known within the conference because of some stellar performances throughout the year.
Jordyn Crosman Jordyn Crosman 5'4" | CG Ogden | 2026 State IA – 2026 – PG/SG – Play4Him 2026 – Ogden H.S.
A quick guard whose skill level is ahead of most her age. When she has her confidence, she is a lights out player in more than one aspect of the game. She is a smart decision maker with the ball in her hands and she is the type of player that has the ability to change the outcome of a game, based on her performance alone. It’s going to be an interesting year at Ogden high school this winter but I’m sure Crosman is going to flourish through anything.
Ainsley Kiene – 2026 – CG – Pure Prep 15U E40 – Ankeny H.S.
Ainsley Kiene is a player that I need to see more of this winter at Ankeny H.S. I didn’t really have a good shot to see her perform live this spring/summer season but the glimpses I did see of her’s were solid. A competitor that keeps the offensive player in front of her each play, while being a handful to guard on the offensive side of things herself. She can dribble, rebound, and score with the best of them. I just hope she can take this momentum from a nice AAU season and ride it into this winter. If so, she maybe a player that you hear about a few more times before the end of this year is upon us.
Leah Janulewicz Leah Janulewicz 5'8" | CG Waukee NW | 2027 IA – 2027 – SG – Iowa Battlers 15U – Waukee Northwest H.S.
Leah Janulewicz Leah Janulewicz 5'8" | CG Waukee NW | 2027 IA is an athlete that played up this AAU season and did more than just hold her own, she killed it. Janulewicz is a lights out shooter. A player that displays form, balance, and the knowledge of when she should take a shot from behind the three point line. Now this maybe a great ability that she has but the best ability? Is her defense. Janulewicz understands her opponents. She stays in front and disciplined, while always being active with her hands. This usually leads to a lot of steals and buckets down on the other end of the floor for her own team. I’m not sure if Waukee Northwest is a program that prides themselves on defense but if they do, Janulewicz is going to have a shot at the varsity floor as a freshman. Until then? She is going to continue working this offseason to expand her game to new heights.
Madilyn Meyer – 2026 – PG/SG – Lady Martin Bros 15U Select – Liberty H.S.
A hard-working and consistent contributor to whatever team she is on. The type of player that is willing to step in and do the “dirty work”, so that her team can be successful. At times she has bursts of impressive speed and skill coming down the floor, usually resulting in an easy bucket for herself or an open teammate. Meyer is a well rounded player, that will continue to stay dedicated to this sport, and could really grow over these next few seasons. All the ability is there, she just needs to keep unlocking it.
Dylan Peterson Dylan Peterson 5'7" | PG Waukee | 2026 IA – 2026 – PG/SG – All Iowa Attack 15U EYBL – Waukee H.S.
Dylan Peterson Dylan Peterson 5'7" | PG Waukee | 2026 IA is a sneaky quick guard, that is extremely good with the ball in her hands. She has the ability to take her opponent off of the dribble with a shifty move, she can create something out of nothing for the teammates around her, and she is not afraid of contact in any form while attacking her defender. She actually is one of the few players from this grade level in the state who would rather go to the line for free throws, than to take the easy way out and score without any contact. Peterson has received some college interest this AAU season and that is sure to grow over the next few years.
Hudsyn Ranschau Hudsyn Ranschau 5'8" | SG Sioux City East | 2026 State IA – 2026 – SG – ETG Midwest 15U 3SSB – Sioux City East H.S.
Haevyn Ranschau Haevyn Ranschau 5'9" | SG Sioux City East | 2026 State IA – 2026 – SG – ETG Midwest 15U 3SSB – Sioux City East H.S.
The Ranschau sisters have always been buckets. Players that work in the gym and stay in the gym consistently to get better at the sport we call basketball. When you have sets of twins that compete in sports together, you usually get 1 of 2 situations. 1 – They are alike players that have grown up the same size, skill level, and ability. Or 2 – The players are completely different in most aspects of the game. In this situation, I would go with 1. Both sisters can score a ton of points by shooting the ball from deep in heartbeat, both players can handle and run the 1 or 2 spot at any given moment, and both can defend with everything they have. I will be making it out to see this Sioux City East high school team this winter. With the roster they possess, it’s sure to be an exciting game.
Samantha Becker Samantha Becker 5'8" Cedar Rapids Washington | 2026 State IA – 2026 – PG – Team Iowa 15U BlueStar – CR Washington H.S.
There are so many intangibles that a player can possesses in this game of basketball. The one that Samantha Becker Samantha Becker 5'8" Cedar Rapids Washington | 2026 State IA displays the most is her ability to lead. A player that isn’t the tallest or strongest, works her tail off on both ends of the floor while orchestrating her teams offense. This winter is going to be a big one for Becker at the varsity level. They struggled last year but everyone is coming back and many have improved drastically as they have gotten older. It’ll be fun to see where this team ends up when it’s all said and done. As for Becker, she is going to worry about what she can control and do what she can for her team. Nothing more a coach can ask for from their point guard.
Kennedy Goodheart – 2026 – SG – All Iowa Attack 15U EYBL – Liberty H.S.
Another player that I see having a big spot on the floor this winter at the high school level is Kennedy Goodheart. Goodheart is a competitor. A player that moves well off of the ball and can produce for her team when she is just moving down the floor. Something that I always ask a serious player is, “Can you produce without the ball in your hands?” Goodheart’s answer would be a resounding, YES! She is the type of individual on the floor that will rebound at high rates each game, screen away and open up on every possession, back door cut to the hoop for an easy finish near the rim, and will play stifling defense against another guard alike in size. When you combined all these things, you get a tough player to compete against. That’s what Goodheart is and was all AAU season.
Grace Fincham Grace Fincham 5'10" | CG Iowa City West | 2026 State IA – 2026 – PG/SG – All Iowa Attack 15U EYBL – West High H.S.
Last season at West High H.S. in Iowa city, Grace Fincham Grace Fincham 5'10" | CG Iowa City West | 2026 State IA stepped up and showed that over the next 3 years, she is going to be a main contributor on her team. Fincham has a solid overall game as a player. Another one of those athletes that can beat you off of the dribble with her speed or she can get shifty and cross you up with a nice dribble move, usually ending in a bucket for her team. Other then that, she has displayed that she is consistently in the right spot at the right time and can consistent make good things happen for her team. I’m excited to see what she will do for the Trojans this winter.
Madden Wilson‘s AAU season got cut short with an ACL tear in Chicago at NIKE TOC in one of their first games. With that being said, she has already had surgery and is on the road to recovery. Wilson’s game would be described as simple but efficient. She gets to any spot she wants, understands the spacing around her, and usually makes something happen because of it. She is a player that has some nice skill in her offensive bag but she is easily at her best when she keeps it simple and takes what the defense is giving her at that moment. This winter at Xavier high school Wilson will return halfway through the season-ish, where she will look to come in and provide a big spark for her team moving toward the State Playoffs. I’m sure she is already counting down the days as we speak.
Dreya Kern Dreya Kern 5'6" | PG Linn-Marr | 2026 State IA – 2026 – PG – Team Iowa 15U BlueStar – Linn Mar H.S.
Dreya Kern Dreya Kern 5'6" | PG Linn-Marr | 2026 State IA maybe the sister of a big man in Davis Kern but her game is completely different. Well, they can both shoot the ball from deep and handle but that’s about it when it comes to similarities. Kern is a play-maker. A player that you put in the game and just know that she is going to make the right play for you when given enough time. From when I originally saw Kern play until now, she has made STRIDES on the court to become better. If she can keep that up and stay consistent this winter at Linn Mar high school, she is going to be getting more and more attention as the season moves forward but we will just have to wait and see.
