Kinley Smith
About Kinley
Expert Analysis

The North Dakota commit did what everyone expected from her this week against Bradley.
She scored 25 points, grabbed 9 boards, and rejected 3 shots en route to a 14-point win. Offensively, Smith was doing quite a bit of work at the charity stripe, shooting 12/13. Having a big who can convert consistently at the line is huge, but so is a big who can show off some offensive versatility.
Smith is a great stretch-5, and she was hitting catch-and-shoot threes from the wing. She was also putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket, where the defense could do nothing but foul on her drives.

will be a great player at the next level, but before then, she will have to continue to show out for Fouke.

, she is off the board. Fouke’s star is committed to the University of North Dakota, but she has one more season of high school basketball to finish first.
If I had to describe Smith’s game in one word, I would say versatile. She averaged 12.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game as a junior, while proving to be a solid stretch-5. She can knock down the three-ball of the catch efficiently, and she can also take a step inside and hit those jumpers.
Smith has shown improvements in taking the defense off the dribble, which is difficult for most post players. She plays under control, absorbs the defense’s bumps, and finds creases to finish through.
Add her solid rebounding and defensive prowess, and

Smith’s offensive game has come along nicely in her career with Fouke. She has become a legitimate threat from beyond the arch, shooting efficiently off the catch. Smith has also shown that with her 6’2″ frame, no one can stop her in the paint.
Smith is great in the pick-and-roll, rolling to the basket at the right moment every time. She is also great at gaining position on the block and then going to work against her defender. She likes to back down her opponent just a bit, then turn and shoot the jump-hook.

‘s offense is great and she can be productive in limited minutes. One of her best games this season was against Genoa Central. Even though she only played 10 minutes, she had 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, and shot 4/5 from 3-point land. Fouke finished 14-1 in conference play, and they will need Smith to deliver in the postseason, no matter how many minutes she plays.

is one of the most accomplished players in the entire 2026 class. She has received a D1 offer from Oral Roberts University and two recent D2 offers from Harding University and Ouachita Baptist University. She was all-state and a part of the all-state tournament team last season, and was even Fouke’s offensive MVP as a sophomore. Smith’s junior season will be one to watch out for.
Smith has potential to become a consistent stretch-5, as she has shown that she can knock down open looks for beyond the arch. At the moment, her mid-range jumpers are her best perimeter-related skill. She loves to find her spot at either elbow and knock down those looks, and her 6’2″ frame allows her to get the shot over the defense. She even gets to her spots in the mid-range in transition if the break were to stall.
Since Smith is 6’2″, she should be able to be an offensive factor inside, and she is. Smith finishes well against the defense, able to take on contact in the process. She can also make a major impact on the offensive glass, recording numerous second-chance opportunities for her team.
On defense, Smith is a solid shot-blocker and a very good defensive rebounder, but there is still room for her to grow. Smith is already a capable defender, but I want to see her take a big step up on that side in the 2024/25 season.

is one of the best offensive centers in the state who can stretch it out to the perimeter whenever she needs to. Fouke went 37-1 last season, and with Smith at the forefront of their offense, I would not be surprised if they repeated that effort this year.
