McKay recently scored her 1000th career point and she’s been so fantastic for St. George’s all season long. In her last game Kirsten put up 15pts and 5 reb. What was impressive about this was that Loomis was putting the pressure on defensively, so when a player connects on five 3s in a such a battle, it’s a statement.

Kirsten has been an exciting addition to the team. She’s brought the energy to lineups and is the ideal fit on a well-built squad. One of her more underrated traits is her passing ability. McKay is able to thread the needle, no matter how small the gap and the ball is well-placed as teammates are set up for easy baskets. Kirsten can also be a reliable option as dribble penetrators look for someone to kick out to. Don’t overlook her defensive abilities either. She beats players to the spots and has solid anticipation when rotations start to happen. Kirsten isn’t the one to always be recognized, but her efforts can make her an unsung hero in any game. St. George’s is hosting their own holiday tournament this week; anticipate McKay to have a ton of involvement in helping secure some wins.

Kirsten has already established herself as a standout guard, averaging over 18 points per game during her sophomore year. What sets her apart is the energy she plays with. She is locked in on each possession—on both sides of the floor. Kirsten plays with a hunger to impact the game, staying focused on one play at a time. She’s a threat in both the half court and transition, and she brings that same high energy to the defensive end. Kristin McKay (2027) | CG | St. George’s
Stoughton’s own McKay has made her decision to attend St. George’s. The high-powered guard was consistently faced with team’s top defenders this year and she came out on top in a lot of those individual matchups. Kristin’s skillset will go a long way with the new looking backcourt of St. George’s. They certainly have some significant firepower that can work well off each other.

Kirsten is coming off the heels of a career night where she scored 33 points. McKay has been a leading factor for the squad after coming into her own last season. In her sophomore year, she averaged 18 ppg, 4 spg, 5 rpg and 2 apg. Her impressive numbers as a sophomore had her entering this season with a lot of eyes watching. In the February 3rd game vs. Seekonk, she scored 20 points and led Stoughton down the stretch. Even though her production on offense is notable, what’s more impressive is the energy she plays with on the defensive side of the ball. After scoring baskets, Kirsten wastes no time celebrating and immediately engages the inbounding pass or she swiftly sprints back to her halfcourt position. She has a no-nonsense approach that gives her this gritty edge over opponents. Overall, McKay is a mighty player that will give Stoughton various advantages in the latter part of the season.
