Akiem Bailum | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Drummond was the lone eighth grader that was on last season’s 5A Division 1 Mauldin team. She would play in 25 of the 26 games that the Mavericks played and was part of a team that finished with a 24-4 record in addition to a 12-2 record against regional opponents. Drummond also helped Mauldin earn a berth to the Upper State championship game. Her career on the travel circuit has included running with FBC Lady Supreme 2030. Her spring has included a stop in Pennsylvania at Under Armour Session 1 during the first live period in April and another in Georgia at the Live At LakePoint invite for May’s live period.

We at Prep Girls Hoops listed Drummond as one of our notables on the 2030 Watch List for a reason. She primarily plays at the three and places plenty of emphasis on taking care of the ball and limiting turnovers. She can get in position to corral rebounds and showcases plenty of speed and court vision. Ball handling with either her right or her left hand is another bright element of her game – as is the ability to connect from the midrange. Talent has been synonymous in recent years with 5A Division 1 Mauldin and Drummond is showing all of the indications of a talent tailor-made for Mavericks orange and brown.

For the last several years, talent has rarely been a problem for Mauldin and it appears another on the verge of rising through the Mavericks’ ranks. Drummond spends her time during her travel schedule with Upward Stars 3SSB which plays on the Adidas circuit. She has no problems falling to the floor to complete a play and is an effective rebounder. Drummond’s court vision also enables her to make accurate passes and she is a strong finisher at the rim. She can get from one end of the floor to the other in a quick amount of time and she has no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line.
