Ligon was on hand at the Greensboro Coliseum for Insider Exposure’s Beast of the East event. She proudly wore the Better Built Basketball uniform during her weekend in the Hoop State. Ligon was difficult to contend with between her 3-point shooting capabilities in addition to what she managed to get accomplished as an attacker of the basket. Distributing the ball is another one of Ligon’s many strengths. Ligon first played at the varsity level as a seventh grader with 5A Mauldin. This past season, she competed in all 26 of the Mavericks’ games on a team that finished with a record of 22-4. She averaged 7.3 points, 3.6 assists, 2.6 steals and 2.6 rebounds per game this past season.

Extremely quick and scrappy point guard that is tenancious on the defensive end. She makes it difficult for anyone to get past her. Jalaila will get on the floor for loose balls and sacrifice her body in winning plays for her team. Ligon also sees the floor well and mixes her passes up depending on the defense whether she is going low for the bounce pass or high for the bobs to her post players. She controls the tempo and makes good decisions.

Ligon’s recruiting took a significant uptick over the past several days. A few days ago, Ligon secured her first Division I offer by virtue of in-state school Presbyterian. Prior to that, Ligon was also offered by Anderson. The Presby and Anderson offers are in addition to a previous offer she landed from Augusta University back in August. Ligon spent her AAU schedule on the Adidas circuit with Upward Stars 3SSB . As she enters her freshman season, Ligon already has two seasons of varsity experience under her belt. She was part of a 5A Division 1 Mauldin team that concluded the 2024-25 season with a record of 16-9.

was handling the ball well getting to the opening and scoring from the free throw line when needed. She had a nice pass making the adjustment to get around her opponent and hitting her teammate in stride on her way to some points. She knew how to create some space for her shot or the pass making sure her team had a chance for points each time down the court.

Ligon was one of many marquee names from the Palmetto State that made her presence known recently at the Prep Girls Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase in Rock Hill. Back in mid-August, Ligon secured an offer from Augusta University. She has more experience than one’s typical freshman given she has played at the varsity level at 5A Division 1 Mauldin since she was a seventh grader. She ran with Adidas team Upward Stars on the grassroots circuit and is looking ahead to a 2025-26 season where the Mavericks will once again be a tough out in the 5A Division 1 realm.
