About Laila

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m known and respected for my shooting abilities. I can shoot well beyond the college line at an efficient rate and I have a high IQ for the game. Defensively I can hold my own with the best of them.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is simple: I’m a winner. I’ve won at every level so far and I love to compete.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’d like to think that I show my leadership through my actions, dedication and hard work. I’ve been a varsity starter since 7th grade and have been blessed to have had teammates that were older, who now plays D1 ball at the next level to take me by the hand and show me what it takes to get to where they are now. Now it’s time I take that experience and help my teammates achieve that same success.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

July 2024 I tore my ACL during AAU which caused me to miss my sophomore season. The process of getting back healthy was a humbling experience. I feel like I fell off the radar a little bit after missing the year, but now I’m fully recovered and ready to reclaim my position as one of the top players in the area.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a school that’s first willing to give me an opportunity to play at the next level. I’m also looking for a school that will bring out the best of my abilities but will also allow me a fair opportunity to earn my minutes.
