. Laila brings it night in and night out on both sides of the ball for a loaded South County squad. South County has some of the most elite perimeter defense in the state, so when your best player is as committed to that side of the ball as Laila is, it goes a long way. She is a very good finisher around the rim and knocks down the long ball as well. She was the Patriot district player of the year, and she takes up my second guard spot here.

Laila is a great spot-up shooter, and she gets to the rim well. She is a smart defender with good instincts. South County beat West Potomac in the district semis in a great game, then surprisingly blew out Robinson in the final.

stood out to me back to back weeks, and she has been paramount to the success of a young South County team. On Wednesday, Laila had a massive game in a competitive win over a solid West Potomac team. Laila finished with 29 points in an 8-point home victory. South County went 2-0 on the week, but Laila’s performance on Wednesday was one of the better ones.
