About Lauren

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

With my height and ball handling capability, I can play any position on the court. However, I prefer to play either at shooting guard or point guard because I feel my ability to see the court and shoot from outside can most benefit my team. My AAU coach calls me his unicorn.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I like to have fun on the court with my teammates and perform best when I'm more relaxed. I continue to work on my confidence because it has a direct impact on my performance. I think this will improve as I continue to grow and mature.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Up until my sophomore year, I was a 3 sport athlete but have since left soccer and LAX to focus on basketball. Now I have more time to get involved and volunteer in the community. I enjoy art and have had a lot of my projects shown in the school art shows. I like to be creative - not just on the court.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I volunteer a lot with my family at St. Stephen's House in Columbus and find that I like to give back. We all should help others if we're able.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I think all of us have our personal challenges and working to get past them is what helps us mature and grow. Given my own personal challenges, I've come to appreciate that everyone has their battles and are only able to overcome them when they're supported by those around them.

What type of college are you looking for?

I haven't really thought about the type of college I'm looking for. My older sister just graduated and is going to Miami of Ohio. She just knew it was the right place for her the first time she stepped on campus. I'm just starting to make college visits and hope that the same is true for me.
