Expert Analysis
Grant McGinnis | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Kennett is the kind of player whose value becomes more apparent every time you watch her. That was certainly the path of our evaluation of Lauryn’s game. Standing 6 feet tall with good length, the Sioux Falls Washington forward can consistently affect a game through effort, discipline and sound fundamentals rather than flashy highlights or showtime plays. Lauryn embraces the defensive end of the floor, using her size and anticipation to make life difficult for opposing players while remaining mentally engaged throughout the game. Offensively, Kennett continues to expand her skill set with improving catch-and-shoot ability and the confidence to finish with either hand around the basket. Her willingness to do the little things that help teams win gives her a strong foundation for continued development. Stay tuned.

Kennett is one of those players whose value becomes more apparent the longer you watch. The 6-foot forward from Sioux Falls Washington isn’t chasing statistics or trying to get herself on a highlight reel. She just spends possession after possession doing difficult, often thankless work. Lauryn has played big minutes when we’ve watched the top Warwick squad play this summer, defending with intensity, and using her ample length to make life miserable for opposing scorers. She seems to level up when guarding the strongest opponents and is routinely locked in from start to finish. Offensively, Kennett shoots it smoothly in catch-and-shoot situations and finishes comfortably with either hand around the basket. She’s not a high-volume scorer, (at least not when we’ve watched) but that’s missing the point. Players with her length, focus, and defensive instincts are always worthy of attention.
