(both below) each had good 2023-2024 seasons, but Layla was again great during the grassroots season. She has so much size and potential, great length, plus she’ll run the floor with effort. She has some touch in the mid-post, and she likes to put it on the floor and attack a little, but as good as her hands are, if she can continue to build a back-to-the-basket mixture, she could be tough to defend. She has picked up widespread interest, from Division-I on down.

Layla just continues to develop her game and flash potential for college programs needing a post. She has outstanding length, a fairly strong frame, but she can also get up and down the floor, she can use her size and/or her athleticism in the post and on the boards, plus she’s a solid rotational defender who can block/alter shots. She still needs a little work on her finishing, but with the amount of growth she’s shown in the last 18-24 months, it’s hard not to like her as a prospect who should only get better.

I have raved and raved about Layla since I saw her last June at a school shootout with her new Wayne team (she transferred in from Homestead). All she has done since then is grow another inch, get stronger, and really work on her skill and ability to get up and down the floor. She has a high ceiling, and she’s starting to draw legitimate looks from schools. She has great length, both in her arms and legs, which suggests she might see 6-4 or 6-5 at some point. She still has some polishing to do on her skillset, but the amount she’s grown as a player over the past 18-24 months has been outstanding.

Layla is another post prospect who transferred into her current high school from Homestead this Summer. She has broad shoulders, long arms & legs, and she runs the floor well North/South. She could still stand to build some strength in her core and work on playing lower to the ground, using her length, but she has grown in the past couple of years and is just figuring it all out. She is likely going to be more of a back-to-the-basket post for a little while, but she has shown flashes of a mid-post game.
