About Leah
Expert Analysis
Jeremy Brooks | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Leah DeJong averaged 15 PPG for Moravia High School as a Sophomore on 35% shooting from the field at the PG position. She also dished out just under 3 APG to help her team get to a 11-13 overall record, 6-2 in conference, when their season came to an end. It was obvious last season that DeJong was going to be their leading scorer and we will see that again for the next two years but she is also going to be looking to stack up stats in other positive categories, so that it could help her team in the long run. She has a solid skillset with a fundamental attitude that’s positive and competitive. If she cuts down on the TO’s and continues to score at a 35% clip, she will look even better as she tries to find her future home at the college level one day.

The most shocking being that DeJong stole the rock 11 different times throughout the ball game and these steals helped lead her team onto the offensive side of the floor in transition. As a group they were able to get out and run against a slower team that couldn’t keep up, which helped them secure the W. DeJong recorded these steals in all different ways. Sometimes it was off a lazy pass on the perimeter, sometimes it was a pick-pocket against a weaker defender. In the end, it was an overall impressive performance from DeJong and company.
