In this article we list five PG's out of the 2028 Class that should be at the top of their roster this upcoming Winter season at the Varsity level. Each of these individuals has some Varsity time on their resumé already and they are looking to make an even bigger difference over their next two years.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

Maquoketa Valley has had Audra Burbridge leading their pack at the top of their roster over the last two years. Over the next two years I expect Burbrigde to do much of the same while also growing within the game with all the experience she will have under her belt. This group is known for having good system's in place with a positive coaching staff to back and Burbridge has been able to keep those system's in check by continuing to be a great example for those around her. A PG is suppose to be a team leader, that is skilled, with the good of the team always in the front of their mind. That's what we have seen with Burbridge over her career. She is team first and that is notable when looking at her future potential.

Kendyl Aarhus is a PG, that has the ability to set up her teammates for success or she can score it herself at a better than average rate. Aarhus, the 5'5 PG, does a good job at noticing the little things, which add up to the big things. She is a knock down shooter from deep off the catch or bounce, demonstrating that she be her team's main offensive threat at times. She doesn't let that take of her game though. She is still patient, calculated, and she doesn't like to settle on either side of the ball. She is obviously willing to hit tough shots but it's not her go to. She would rather help out her teammates, making them look good and that says a lot about her, not just as a basketball player but as a human being.

Kam Hough produces as her team's starting PG. She did last Winter as a Sophomore and she is lined up to do it again as a Junior. Hough might not be the tallest on the court but she makes up for that with high energy and top notch communication. She is the type that understands situational awareness within this game at a HIGH level for her age. She knows when to do what and who to pass too in which situation, speaking to how elite her mental capabilities really are. The biggest issue we have when talking about younger prospects is the mental side of the game. You can have all the skill in the world but if you don't know what to do with it, it's never going to workout for you in the long run. Maybe against poor and smaller competition but against real hoopers? No, it'll never work so it's crucial that we see this out of Hough at this point in her career. She has the foundation to take her game to the next level in the future if she sticks with it. There is no doubt about that.

It's been a few years since Waterloo West High School has had to worry about who is going to be their starting PG for the upcoming season but that's the situation they are in this Summer and I think the individual that is going to end up being their starting PG is Madelyn Wass. From everything we have seen Wass is the definition of pass-first at the 1 spot. She likes to set up others off the dribble and she is always willing to give the extra pass on rotation when those opportunities present themselves. That is who you want as your starting PG. Someone willing to leave it all on the floor for the sack of the team and that's why I think Wass is a great fit to take over at their first option. She has a tight handle, she can handle the pressure by opposing defenses, and she does all those intangibles things you love to hear about like defending and rebounding. I'm not sure what the pieces around Wass look like right now but she is ready to have a Winter to remember.

Leah DeJong averaged 15 PPG for Moravia High School as a Sophomore on 35% shooting from the field at the PG position. She also dished out just under 3 APG to help her team get to a 11-13 overall record, 6-2 in conference, when their season came to an end. It was obvious last season that DeJong was going to be their leading scorer and we will see that again for the next two years but she is also going to be looking to stack up stats in other positive categories, so that it could help her team in the long run. She has a solid skillset with a fundamental attitude that's positive and competitive. If she cuts down on the TO's and continues to score at a 35% clip, she will look even better as she tries to find her future home at the college level one day.
