Leia Trinh Leia Trinh 5'6" | CG Greenwood | 2024 State KY is the best girls basketball player to ever come out of Greenwood High School. As a junior she became the first player in program history to reach 2,000 career apoints. She led the Lady Gators in scoring last season averaging 19PPG shooting 37% from the field. Her scoring output is amazing, she is capable of putting up 20+ points anytime she steps on the court. She finished the season as one of the top players in the 14th district and the 4th region, making her an easy selection for the All-Hoops district team and the All-Region 1st team. Leia flies under the radar due to not playing for any travel teams, but she is a prolific scorer that you can count on to put points up, especially in clutch moments. I think she will average 25+ points a game this season.

I got to watch Trinh play at a Christmas tournament this past season and the speedy guard showed me her impressive scoring ability in those games. She has strong handles and can get to the rim or knock down jump shots.
2022-23 Season Stats: 19 PPG, 1.9 RPG, 36.7% FG (overall), 33.7% 3pt FG, 73.4% FT

Trinh surpassed Greenwood’s current scoring record of 1,912 points this season and she also passed the 2,000 point mark. She is currently averaging 19.1 PPG and is shooting nearly 40% from 3 on the season. Trinh is a really quick point guard who can handle pressure and create good looks for her teammates. Teams constantly have to respect her at all 3 levels.

Trinh is super fast, both with and without the ball. She’s so quick that she actually has the ability to beat everyone else down the floor for easy layups. However, she also runs the point for her Greenwood squad. She does a great job facilitating the offense and finding the gaps. She’ll draw the defense in and then kick the ball to an open teammate. Trinh made some great entry passes to the post and was very involved in the offense even when she wasn’t scoring herself. However, she can score on all 3 levels, so you really have to respect her ability to score.

I actually think Trinh typically brings the ball down the floor and she’s a strong floor general. However, she’s also typically one of the best scorers on the floor. Trinh can score at all 3 levels and she’s a very crafty player. She can finish tough shots around the basket, knock down 3’s from deep range, and she can score in a variety of ways inside of the perimeter. Trinh can also create for her teammates and her court vision allows her to throw some impressive passes. She brings intensity and makes a lot happen defensively as well.

I may be wrong on this, but at least from what I saw, Trinh was the primary ball handler for Greenwood last season, so a point guard making this list is impressive in itself. Even more so when you’re the 3rd leading returning scorer in the state. Trinh also finished as one of the top 50 free throw leaders in the state after shooting 77.7% from the charity stripe last season. Her ability to score at all 3 levels makes her a tough defensive assignment. She is a crafty and fearless player who not only creates scoring opportunities for herself, but also for her teammates.
Trinh has good handles and good speed. She can shoot the outside shot with deep range and she shoots it at a high percentage (35.3%). She’s not typically the strongest player on the floor, but that doesn’t stop her from getting buckets around the basket. Trinh can finish tough shots and she can score in a variety of ways inside of the perimeter. However, despite how well she can score, she is also an excellent passer. In fact, she racks up quite a few assists in every game she plays in. Trinh should remain on this list for the next 2 seasons based on what she’s done thus far.
