About Leigha

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a confident, aggressive guard who can score at all three levels. I take pride in making the right reads, creating for my teammates, and impacting the game on both ends of the floor. I play with pace, stay under control, and look to attack early while also being able to slow the game down when needed.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a competitive mindset and I’m always looking to improve. I stay coachable, take feedback seriously, and work hard even when things aren’t going my way. I’m focused, disciplined, and I push myself to bring energy and effort every time I step on the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am currently focused on balancing school and basketball. I take my academics seriously and work to maintain strong grades while continuing to develop as an athlete.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong teamwork and communication skills by playing with different teams and age groups. I understand how to play my role while also stepping up when needed. I’m learning to lead by example through my work ethic, attitude, and consistency, and I always look to support my teammates and help the team succeed.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I’ve faced is learning how to stay aggressive and confident from the beginning of games. Earlier on, I would sometimes start slow and find my rhythm later. I’ve worked on that by improving my preparation, staying mentally ready, and trusting my work. I’ve also challenged myself by playing up against older competition

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that challenges me both academically and athletically. I want to compete at a high level in basketball while also pursuing a strong academic program, especially in engineering. I’m looking for a program where I can continue to develop, be pushed every day, and be part of a team culture that values hard work, discipline, and growth.

Leigha has no problems playing up, and she doesn’t look like a 7th grader on the court. She kept great defensive positioning inside, moving her feet to avoid fouling, and caused a travel call. Leigha caught passes with good hands around the rim and finished effectively off two feet. She crashed the glass hard to score put-backs and dished out a great bounce pass assist with her left to a cutter. Leigha is a promising prospect in the Dream Loudly EYCL program.
