Few prospects in South Dakota have elevated their game this year as dramatically as Setzer. The 6-foot-2 Sioux Falls Christian forward combines exceptional length, athleticism and quickness with an increasingly diverse skill set. Setzer can dominate around the basket, rebounds above traffic and uses her wingspan and outstanding instincts to alter or block shots at a high rate. She’s also comfortable handling the ball, moves well laterally and continues to expand her perimeter game. After averaging 18 points and nine rebounds as a junior, Setzer made another significant jump during the summer while competing against stronger national competition. Her combination of physical tools, rapidly developing skills and considerable remaining upside makes her one of the state’s most compelling college prospects. On Sunday she became the state’s second high-major senior when she committed to the University of Pittsburgh.

Full disclosure: Setzer’s new team (All-Iowa Attack) didn’t play at Summer Jam but we saw her on Monday at the University of Minnesota’s elite camp. The 6’2 forward from Sioux Falls Christian made such an impression there that we simply had to include her in this week’s evaluations. Setzer is a top-three prospect in South Dakota’s Class of 2027 with perhaps the highest upside of any player in the state. College coaches are finally noticing and why not. Lezlei has the traits those coaches look for: size, strength, toughness, and drive. She rebounds effectively, can dominate inside and is not shy about being physical. She’s also really, really athletic. With a ton of room for growth and development, Lezlei’s potential is limitless.

The 6’2 forward from Sioux Falls Christian is a highly rated prospect with a ton of upside. An All-State selection who averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds per game on nearly 50% shooting, Young-Setzer combines length, athleticism, and a skillset that continues to expand. She’s long, lean, and bouncy, with the ability to elevate impressively over defenders at the rim. Defensively, her instincts and wingspan make her a strong shot blocker and frequent disruptor. She moves well laterally, handles the ball comfortably, and shows patience in her approach. With good shooting form and natural quickness, Lezlei offers up a versatile two-way game. There’s no telling just how good she can be at the next level.
