About Lily

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a high-energy, team-oriented player who prides myself on defense, effort, and basketball IQ. I play with intensity, make smart decisions, and do whatever is needed to help my team win—whether that’s scoring, rebounding, defending, or creating opportunities for others. As a four sport athlete with 16 varsity letters, I have a LOT of upside potential and know what it takes to win!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m competitive, coachable, and driven. I bring a positive attitude to practices and games and hold myself to a high standard. I’m someone who stays composed under pressure, listens to feedback, and is always looking for ways to improve and help my teammates succeed. Playing multiple sports and maintaining a rigorous academic path, there is very little that rattles me, ice in my veins…

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

In addition to athletics, I’m involved in school and community activities and take pride in maintaining strong academic performance. Being a student-athlete has helped me develop leadership, responsibility, and time-management skills that extend beyond sports. I am in National Honor Society, National Council on Youth Leadership, Youth Leadership for Five Seasons graduate.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a senior captain of my high school basketball team, I’ve developed strong leadership and communication skills. I lead by example through work ethic, accountability, and supporting my teammates on and off the court. Being part of team sports has taught me the importance of trust, adaptability, and putting the team first. I’ve learned how to balance academics, athletics, and other commitments.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is balancing the demands of being a multi-sport athlete while maintaining high academic standards. There have also been seasons with adversity, including injuries, tough losses, and learning new roles on a team. These experiences taught me resilience, time management, and how to stay focused on long-term goals even during setbacks.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that values both academics and athletics, where I can compete in a strong basketball program while continuing to grow as a student and person. I’m interested in a supportive team culture, committed coaching staff, and a campus environment where I can be challenged and pushed to improve on and off the court.

We saw a lot of promise out of Lily Barer of CR Washington High School this Winter. Barker was a solid option on offense for the Warriors as a threat from the outside. She also possessed a solid handle to help her run the offense if things were to breakdown within their game-plan down the court. Defensively, she held her own. She didn’t fold in many occasions and she wasn’t a liability that other team’s try to target within their scouting report, which is always a good sign. CR Washington made a big State run into DSM to finish off their Winter. Something their Senior Class should be proud of as they look back on it.
