Morris is constantly around the ball to make a play. Victoria has plenty of talent around her this season on the Lady Stallions roster. She does a little bit of this and that when it comes to scoring the ball, grabbing a rebound, handling the rock or simply defending multiple positions.
Victoria plays the game with good versatility. Morris better yet knows how to WIN games with her play and effort. She averaged 14.3 ppg and 8.6 rebounds a season ago and enters her senior season with 775 career points.
Parker made the move this past summer over to county rival Blacksburg HS from Gaffney HS. Shyrique will now player in a lower classification at Blacksburg HS. Parker really likes to play her game from the wing. Shyrique averaged 12.7 ppg and 5.5 rebounds a season ago.
Parker shoots the ball at a good clip and really likes to operate from the corners. She certainly will be one of the top players in Class 2A this season.
Tacoya stays around the paint and really isn’t a true post player at all. Heyward is a stat-sheet stuffer with her production. She scores most of her buckets around the paint area on putbacks and layups. Tacoya enters her senior season with 1,174 points, 576 rebounds, 335 assists and 394 steals.
Heyward brings production to the table, and it really doesn’t matter where she plays on the floor. She helped the Lady Bobcats finish (19-6) a year ago in Class 4A.
Mickell is a true post player down low on the block. Trinity has no problems banging on defenders and scoring through contact. She surely will use all 5 of her fouls every game night for the Lady Tigers. Trinity might play off the grid a bit at a small Class 1A in the Lower State.
Mickell has a nice set of shoulders where she plays the game very physical. Trinity averaged 17.3 ppg, 11.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks last season.
Diggs plays her game out on the wing in Chesterfield County near the North Carolina border. Kierra is above average athlete who excels in the transition game. Diggs averaged 12.8 ppg, 9.7 rebounds and 3.6 steals a season ago for the Lady Rams. She currently has 798 career points, 566 rebounds and 230 steals entering her senior season.
Kierra has good length and versatility where it gives her advantage to defend multiple positions on the floor. She ran with Lady Attack this past Grassroots Circuit. Diggs connected on some mid-range jumpers here today.
Young really lacks a true position on the floor but, you better make sure you play her. She constantly brings effort and a strong work ethic to the table every night. She does most of her damage around the paint area and just looks to outwork players. Lynda works around the paint and manufactures production on putbacks, rebounds and loose balls. She certainly isn’t afraid to work and put a good sweat in each game.
Young averaged 15.9 ppg and 13.7 rebounds last season for the Lady Seahawks. She enters her senior season with 818 career points and 606 rebounds.
Geathers-Washington is in her final season for the Lady Bears at Carvers Bay HS. Jerchel has nimble footwork around the paint area and moves well from the post area. She has no problems playing the game on contact and carving out space down low on the block. Jerchel averaged a double-double a season ago at 14.3 ppg and 11.8 rebounds a game. She has soft hands to collect anything thrown in her direction. The Lady Bears finished (21-7) a season ago.
Can the Lady Bears make a move this season in the Lower State?
Highlights
Leaphart really came to play today with her overall effort and hustle. She scored most of her buckets while slashing to the cup and attacking the baseline. Leaphart a left-handed slasher deluxe made herself available several times around the bucket. Look for her to be a Stock-Riser later this month with her play today at the SCBCA Elite Camp.
