Whenever you hit a buzzer beater for the win as a player, it sticks with you. Depending on who you are, it may stick with you the rest of your life whenever you look back at your basketball career. Someone who is a major contributor for their Varsity program, that happen to hit one of these shots last night was guard, Machaela Trask Machaela Trask 5'8" | SG Mason City | 2025 State IA of Mason City High School. As time expired on Tuesday evening, Trask drove down the floor and tossed up a contested floater from the elbow as time expired. She ended up hitting this shot, giving her team the narrow victory as the buzzer sounded. Trask is no stranger to the being in the big moment. She is college committed and her best is still yet to come. This is someone that has shown her dedication to the sport over the years and because of that, she will take her talents to Coach Vaught and NIACC following this Winter season.

Mason City High School has produced some collegiate level talent the past couple of seasons, their most recent being SG – Machaela Trask Machaela Trask 5'8" | SG Mason City | 2025 State IA . Trask is committed to competed with NIACC out of the Mason City area following her Senior season and I’m expecting that she will be able to produce in Coach Vaught’s system. At the high school level over the past three seasons, she has put up better than average numbers, with her best high school season coming up this Winter. I say this because the group will lose their main producer from years prior, so now it’s time for someone else to be their first option and I think Trask is going to take control of that situation but I guess we will just have to wait to see.

We haven’t touched on Michaela Trask of Mason City this year yet but she is going to be someone this Winter that helps Mason City High School light it up from all over the hardwood. Trask competes with Mason City for school ball and Lady Martin Bros Select for AAU. On both teams, she is looked upon as a leader by example. Other than being able to knock down shots or get the bucket off the dribble and being pretty skilled on that side of things, Trask leads with her communication, self-sacrifice, and love for the game. You can tell that she wants the success on the floor for the others around her, not herself and those turn out to be the best prospects/teammates at the end of the day. Coach Vaught at NIACC is the real deal so once he finds out how Trask fits within his system, I’m sure she will thrive because of the mixture of her ability and her niche within the Trojans program.
