What caught my attention was her defensive presence. Maybe it stood out more because I was on the defensive end the first half, but this tall guard has great size and can defend both the post and the wing.
I liked her quick feet denying the wing pass and the decisive reaction to cover the backdoor cut. She was also scrappy on the offensive boards, scoring on several putbacks.
A young player to watch as she will only continue to develop

Conkling is an athlete who will be debuting in the Class of 2028 rankings on April 22. I saw her play in the Class 2A State Tournament and was impressed with her game. She plays under control and fits in well with Moundridge’s talented upperclassmen. She finished her freshman season scoring 7.1 points per game and grabbed 3.6 points per contest.

First time seeing Mackie play so going off just several games. I will say what caught my eye was the skill set she shoed in the games. Good hands, quick feet and basketball IQ Hustled and moved without the ball allowed to be in the right place to score the bucket. Showed some athleticism with the ball getting downhill to the paint off the edges.
Showed on defensive the she can defend the 3-5 spots with her quickness and sped. Good rebounder on both end of the court needing no outlet on the break as she showed good handles in transition. Again first time seeing her place but will be a 2028 I have circled to watch at the next event.
