The Nodaway Valley Wolverines had the opportunity to play a few times before their actual season kicks off this next week. The Wolverines are going to be led by the future college commit,

but someone else that is going to need to step up big time is their CG –

and she has done a respectable job of that to kick things off. She is competing with an edge, staying mentally locked in, and making the most of the chances that she gets when teams pay too much attention to others on her team. With her fundamental handle and quick footwork, this is someone that is sure to jump off the screen for the Wolverines for one last year before her Senior season comes to an end.

of Nodaway Valley over the past couple of years and for good reason. Weston will compete at the Guard position once again for her Senior season with the Wolverines and she is primed to have the best season of her high school career to-date. Why is that you might ask? This team is in a situation where most of the time they will compete against smaller schools and they have a collegiate level prospect in Junior,

. So most teams will have to focus their efforts on stopping her and everyone else should thrive because of that. I’m assuming most teams will try some sort of zone, which in that case, Weston can do a fantastic job of stepping up and knocking down some shots from all over the floor, depending where she is stationed and what is happening around her. The Wolverines could make a run this season so keep an eye on them. It’ll be a team effort and everyone is okay with that. Which speaks to their philosophy as a whole.

but others will have to step up if they want to have success as a team. One of those players being Senior CG,

. Weston has been a piece to her team’s success the past three years at the Varsity level and they need her more than ever this next eight months. With Eisbach getting all of the opposing team’s attention, it’s going to open up major holes for the teammates like Weston to score and produce at higher rates than normal. She has demonstrated that she is definitely capable of stepping up and making this her best season to date.

Nodaway Valley High School is 12-2 to start the 2023-2024 season and they are looking to build on this momentum over the next three weeks before the State Playoffs begin. The Wolverines are headed by a two-headed monster in

. Weston is the definition of a Shooting Guard. When she catches the ball, she is always ready and looking to let it go from behind the three point line. Throughout her team’s 14 games this winter, Weston has 36 total shot attempts with 33 of those coming from deep. In those 33 attempts, she is currently making 30% from the field, while also recording 1 RPG and 1 APG. I’m expecting this team to have a successful rest of their season. If their leaders can learn from their past mistakes and continue to stay confident in their work, they are going to be just fine. Especially when they have players like Weston there to help in support.
