About Makennah
Expert Analysis
Simmie Colson | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Alexis is one of the top scorers in the area, and her ability to put the ball in the basket off the dribble, as well as from mid to long-range, is all nice, yet she’s a long and athletic guard with a solid first step who can get by defenders and thread the needle in traffic for assists. Her defense is solid, and she plays the passing lane

It’s hard to believe Alexis is under the radar, when she just tallied her 2,000th career point but she’s definitely waking people up in her senior campaign. She is very comfortable rising into a pull-up midrange jumper in which she elevates well and plays with a clear feel for where she’s most effective. She provides a much-needed spark through effort, poise, and attention to detail.

Alexis is also one of the best shooting guards in the state, and she needs to be picked up as soon as she crosses midcourt, but she’s also a scorer and finds ways to put the ball in the basket. Her deceptive first step to score off the dribble, her “stop and pop” jumper in transition, or just giving the defender the pull-up are all effective. She plays the passing lane, plays defense, and has good court vision see evaluations here

Alexis is nearing the 2000 point mark, and watching her evolve on so many levels throughout her career has been a joy, and one of the first Tip Sheets from me shows how good I am at this, see evaluation here, as I said she was “on her way”. A year later, see evaluation here, sort of set the stage as she continues to elevate her game on both ends, see evaluations here

Alexis is a skilled scorer who can put the ball in the basket multiple ways, and part of that is because of her constantly moving without the ball on the offensive end and seeing gaps for her to cut to the basket and score on an assist from one of her teammates. Oh yeah, she can attack and finish as well as drop the mid to long-range, yet her “stop and pop” jumper in transition looked good, so did her “on the ball defense.”

Alexis helped provide a solid, capable shooter and scorer while she was starring at high school with her older sister, yet to say the torch has been passed was apparent at the TABC Showcase as she was on fire, dropping shots from everywhere while also playing solid defense see evalautions here

#89 up from #86 Alexis came up huge during high school ball back in 2024, which was the last time I had seen her as she complemented her talented sister who is now starring for Rice but Makennah has come into her own and after seeing her give me scoring performance at the TABC Showcase, In expect her to make another jump this season see evaluation here

Alexis also showed me plenty of “on the court” progression since I last saw her almost two seasons ago, and watching her not only create her shot and drop the mid to long-range, she also created for her teammates and gave them good looks. I was also impressed with her not only wanting the ball in pressure situations, but also delivering

Alexis “write this eval for me” oh my bad, that’s ALEXA yet Makennah is writing her on ticket and her “coming out and showing out” in the playoffs took plenty pressure off of her sister Aniah Alexis Aniah Alexis 5'8" | SG Cy Lakes | 2024 State TX who was one of the top guards in the 2024 class. What grabbed me about the baby sister was she showed me she was NOT A BABY and her “poise under pressure” whether it was knocking down big shots, NBA range 3 or off the dribble with the FLOATA, down the stretch or maybe her on the ball pressure and playing the passing lane did it. No, it was a combination because she stayed cool and her decision making and court vision all played a part on her being here
