Makenzie Hughes Makenzie Hughes 5'8" | CG Akron-Westfield | 2025 State IA is going to take the Varsity floor over this next six months in attempts to have her best season to date in the sport of Basketball. Hughes is a Simpson college commit and a gamer. She is someone that competes to the fullest every time she takes the court. This position is not a surprising one for Hughes by any means. She has been looked at as their unquestionable leader for years now, so this season is more of one for herself in a sense. She is a great team player and she is unselfish in her actions so it’s nothing to do with that. I think it’s more of just a situation of proving a lot to herself from a personal level. Something that I think will play to her favor in the long run. From a skill-set perspective, she checks off a lot of boxes as an efficient player. She knows how to help the cause without hurting you too much as a coach and that’s all you can really ask for.
