She also played well against Rivers with 12 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. She drives the ball with good footwork, staying balanced while covering a lot of ground with long strides. Defensively she is a tenacious on-ball defender, picking up ball handlers early and making it difficult for them to comfortably set up their offense.

Marianna is contributing just under 10 points per game this season and continues to step up in key moments. In a recent matchup against Nobles, she led her team with 12 points and added 4 rebounds despite the loss, standing out with her scoring presence.

Marianna will be in an even better position to contribute for Thayer this season. She’s certainly an underrated player that can facilitate as well as provide some spark scoring when she gets going. Lamonica also exerts an all-out effort on the defensive side of the ball. She’s active in the passing lanes and she has quick feet, so she can shadow ballhandlers while on the ball.

Marianna is a decisive player that makes the right play. She gets deep in the lane for floaters and can knock down open shots as posts look for the right release option after entry. Lamonica even shows a great amount of hustle by battling herself downlow for rebounds as well as picking up anyone she can as a defender.

Marianna was one of the more surprising players on the day. Her impressive play throughout the entirety of the showcase made it unthinkable to leave her unnoticed. The first attribute that stood out was the fluid movement she was able to operate on the court with. The tight handle allowed her to freely function regardless of the pressure defense she faced from some of the better defenders from the camp. In 3v3 play, Marianna made it her point to get others involved; never forcing plays to happen. She also was able to get pullup midrange shots that she seemed comfortable getting to. The seamless play in 5v5 really stood out due to her ability to fend off hostile defenders during the competitive atmosphere. She also provided solid defense with her explosive lateral movement that grants quick bursts that kept skilled players in front of her. Overall, Lamonica was an underrated talent that should have an eye kept on her throughout the season. A ton of potential in Marianna’s game.
