Gaultier has been steadily improving quietly over the course of the season. She came into the year as one of the sleepers in ’28, but Sophie has shown she has a lot more to offer. In her last game vs St. Paul, the sophomore guard had 14 pts.

Despite suffering a loss to Sacred Heart Greenwich, Sophie was still worthy of mention due to her composure under pressure and the resolve she has. Gaultier put up 20 pts, 1 ast plus she added 2 reb. Sophie is stepping up for her squad this season and she’s one to keep an eye on through the remainder of the season.

Sophie is averaging 11.0 points per game and excels as a spot-up shooter, needing very little space to get her shot off. She’s effective in transition, finishing through contact or finding open teammates, and her steady handle allows her to stay composed against perimeter pressure.

Sophie has been a considerable factor for Thayer this season. She’s been reliable and her refined skillset has made her an interesting watch. In a tough loss vs a loaded Tabor squad, Gaultier was a bright spot, being the team’s high scorer with 17 pts. Sophie has some real upside to her. The heavy minutes she’ll log in competitive ISL matchups will only sharpen her game even more.

Sophie is patient when driving to the basket, never letting defenders speed her up or take her out of rhythm. From behind the three-point line, she makes opponents pay for leaving her open. On defense, Sophie uses her strength to her advantage, often ripping the ball right out of opponents’ hands. She also runs her lane well in transition, getting all the way to the basket or stopping for a smooth pull-up shot.
