Expert Analysis

Sometimes players with the biggest impact in the game aren’t the ones scoring the ball. Claybrook was impactful as any other player for either team as she totally dominated the paint on both ends of the court rebounding the ball and was excellent defensively blocking shots, including one that ended up out of bounds after she came over from the help side and swatted it clean. She had several other blocks as well as altering shots and being an overall deterrent for the Duval Elite players trying to score inside. Her sprinting in transition to get rebounds may have been the most impressive thing she did getting extra shots and possessions for team and preventing others for Duval Elite . She has great size and strength but is also extremely athletic which she showed sprinting down the court as mentioned and exploding off the ground with her vertical leap. Claybrook holds nearly twenty scholarship offers currently and I expect that list to double by this time next year.

Mariella made her presence felt on the defensive end, not allowing anything easy in the paint. She showed great vision with a sharp pass from the high post and is a highly skilled passer for her position. Mariella ripped down rebounds with authority and displayed excellent footwork while scoring with her back to the basket. Her patience in the post and smooth left-hand finish highlighted her advanced skill set on the block. Her ceiling is sky-high.

What more can possibly be said about Claybrook? She continues to dominate at all times! She’s a double-double, shot blocking machine! She finished the championship game with one of her signature double-doubles, and she added 3 blocks! She’s a D1 athlete for a reason, and she will continue to climb the ladder. I still can’t wait to see who lands this one at the next level. Whether she chooses Marshall, Tennessee Tech, or from the slew of other offers, I’ll be a fan!

Mariella continues to turn heads this AAU season with Tennessee Flight 2027 E40. Since the May Live Period, she’s added D-I offers from Marshall University and Tennessee Tech to her bag, bringing her total to three this travel season. Her size, skill, and upside are clearly catching the eyes of college coaches.

Mariella had college coaches salivating over her size, skill-set, and potential. She was discipline on defense, didn’t bit on pump fakes, and made sure to wall up, which made it extremely difficult to finish over her inside. She demonstrated quick feet and held her own when switching onto perimeter players. Mariella set effective screens and crashed the boards, outworking everyone for rebounds. A high-ceiling prospect who continues to elevate her game.

Love Claybrook’s length and rebounding. She’s a bucket anywhere around the rim! When Mariella has her back to the basket, she assesses and knows where to go. I like her footwork on the block!
